Yea, summer sale or maybe as a weekend deal (they seem to have great deals on whole franchises such as darksiders).

My laptop can run Skyrim at around 50fps on low-medium settings so I am confident I can run the Fallout series. Heck I have seen the game running on intelHD3000 integrated graphics so it should be no problem for me.

I know someone who I think (I can't remember correctly or find out) all the Bethesda stuff for $80 during the Holiday Sale. I'm pretty sure they had series bundles too at an awesome discount.

Look for the Summer Sale then. Could be any time during those months. Wasn't until some time in July last year, I believe.
Incidentally, I'm planning on the same thing. It would be nice to play without a crash every ten minutes once you actually get somewhere.

Don't get New Vegas then.

Note: I did not say "Don't get Fallout 3".

I started up a new character last night. Going mainly for Luck, Strength and Endurance. Will see if can do a bit more gambling in this playthrough.

I'm not sure what skills I will be focusing on just yet but I tagged survival, guns and repair. I feel like using food a bit more instead of relying on overly expensive stimpaks. I'm currently 2 hours in on the road from Nipton to Novac.

So I'm around 8-9 hours in on my new character, got Boone by my side and he's helped a heap , especially when taking out the legion raids that occur every so often (I'm a bit weak for them myself) . Looting the legion soldiers nets me over 1500 caps worth of gear not to mention good weapons.

I am going for the platinum on this game now, I looked at the trophy list and it's entirely do-able, hardcore mode may be an issue though. I am currently doing side quests to level myself up quickly, taken on dozens of cazadores which really wrecked me (I was under-levelled for the areas I was travelling through) but is awesome for xp. Doing the "return to sender" side quest which is long and arduous, I'm nearly done with it though. Still haven't entered the strip yet and won't be for quite a while.

The game is still a hell of a lot of fun. I just love the atmosphere and style of the world, not to mention the RPG elements and sweet gear. However the game crashed on me three times tonight and it's just such a shame that technical issues are what's bringing this game down.

New Vegas really is a great game, it's addictive, has depth, lots of content and the vibe is brilliant, it just really needed more polish.

EDIT: Had heaps of fun tonight, did a few more side quests including an unmarked quest to killer motor-man or whatever that bandit's name is. Basically I had to fight through Vault 3 and let me tell you that "dungeon" gave me the best loot I have ever gotten in New Vegas. Every enemy went down in 1-2 shots and gave me a sweet, expensive weapon e.g flamer, smg, magnum etc. I combined them to make fully repaired versions worth 2000+ caps each, got about 8 of those !!!. What an epic haul that quest was. Also the soundtrack in the vault was really spooky so as soon as I got out I connected to an in-game radio station, it made me remember how awesome and relaxing the music in this game is, it really fits the theme and atmosphere. I'm lvl 16 now, still outside the strip.

Hardcore mode sounds worse than it is, from what my gf has told me. I didn't do it myself, but she said it's not really that bad.

Hardcore mode is so easy and adds to the fun. The only issue I ever had was my companions (Cass and Rex) running out guns blazin' and then getting their asses handed to them. A simple loading from a previous save fixes the permadeath.

Went on a Deathclaw hunt today, first time I've seen a deathclaw in 28 hours of playtime !! . Used explosives to clear out both the Quarry and Gypsum train yard, getting the explosive damage trophy in the process. Now I need to try and get banned from all 3 casinos, my 10 luck should help with that Razz .

You will get banned, if you do blackjack until the house limit, then jump to slots, in roughly 2-3 hours TOPS. It barely takes any time at all to get banned. I started a Sniper Character myself, hard to do though at the beginning. And Hardcore, isn't hardcore. I mean, I have barely noticed it. The hardest part about it is the fact that Stimpacs can't regrow limbs.

Very close to the platinum now, just polishing off the last questline. Only Hardcore mode to go after that and I found a very useful guide at getting the trophy within 2 hours.

Nice going. Smile I haven't managed to do that yet, and likely won't. Instead, I'll do it when I get it on PC.
