PostSubject: General Sports Thread   Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:11 pm

This is a place where you can discuss various sports, be it NFL football, soccer, baseball, and more with your fellow members.

Right now the NFL training camps are in full swing. In just over a month...NFL football will finally start! Very Happy= :D I can't wait to see how my Colts play this season!

Glad you got it up, Ratch. Wink I have no idea what to think about the Bears. Peppers is a beast, whether it be stopping the run, sacks, and blocking kicks, our defense is fine. But the offense has the chance to be good or terrible. They're relying too much on Cowboy's castoffs. Williams has had one great season, Barber is going to fight for the no. 2 RB. They needed to sign Braylon Edwards or (I know they won't anyway, as they hate having any controversey) Chad Johnson (I don't call him Ochocinco.) But, as usual the Cubs decide not to open a fire sale and trade all their one year, extremely expensive, under performing player, as Jim Hendry think that they are the future of the team examples: Pena, Zambrano, Dempster, Ramirez, Soriano, Marshall, Wood, Marmol, Baker, Johnson, and Garza. Not saying to trade them all, just a few to get a couple of good prospects.

I see nothing wrong with the Bears defense. They are a solid group who rank up there with the best of them. As for the offense, you are absolutely right. Jay Cutler, although a good QB, is terribly inconsistent. One game he'll throw a fantastic game, yet the next he'll throw a ton of interceptions. If he can become a more accurate passer, the Bears can become a real threat. I wouldnt mind the Bears picking up Braylon though...He could become a shining player if they use him correctly.

My biggest fear for the Colts is their offensive line. Their defense is on a whole fine (although it can use some improvement), but the Colts need to protect Peyton. I know if the Colts don't have an abundance of injuries like last year that they'll be a contender for the Super Bowl.

Colts need to stop the run, that's been their problem ever since their super bowl championship.

Yeah, there were several games last year where the run just killed them. I remember the game against the Redskins where Ryan Torian absolutely tore us up.

I remember seeing the first game when Arian Foster did the same thing.

Yeah, my friend Hailey and I were so pissed after that game. It was such a terrible way to start the season. Neutral

It didnt help that the injuries started to happen that soon too.

I am a huge college football fan. I have season tickets to Oklahoma Sooner games and travel to all away games.

Dolphins...The only aggravation I have with them is that my 2nd pick in last years fantasy draft was Brandon Marshall, and he bombed hard for me. Personally, my most hated team(s) are the Pats and Raiders.

Bears need to trade for Umienyora. That would put out defense over the top. Sure they might need to give up a 2nd rounder and DB, but Peppers, Idonije, Adams, and Umienyora would be the best D-line in the league.

They're a mess. They, as usual, don't step up and trade for a big time player.

Mikel Leshoure tore his ACL this morning. Bah, there goes one of my potential fantasy gems. Mad

I watched him at Illinois, I think he's overated. He had a few nationally televised games (Texas Bowl) that made his stock sky rocket.

Overrated or not, it's disappointing to see one of my players go down.

Yeah, I heard that ass Adam Schefter say that's like the 11th player go down for the season with an achilles.

Good freaking lord. Are everyone's knees made of glass this year? Puzzled

Ended up picking up Hightower...Considering I have Roy Helu too, Im not sure how that will go. Right now I have both to see who will rack up the most points once the season starts.

Ooooooh, Hightower has no protection, he's a great pass catcher, though.

Well, right now it is either him, Rashad Jennings, or Justin Forsett.

I mean, my RB situation as it stands isnt bad, but I want my team to be as deep as possible.

Anyone else tired of hearing that excuse Manny fans use: "Manny being Manny"? If I went out and stole something would they just say "Well, its just Matt being Matt!"?
