Lots of people have outdoor dogs and cats I have noticed... some take really good care of em and give them a dog house with a heated pad and water dish in a warmed garage. others leave them in 5x5 kennel with a cover all day everyday whether its super cold or super hot
I am a 21 year-old student from Finland. It makes me sad to hear how Americans are suffering. Here, our taxes are high but we all benefit from them. I grew up in the countryside and always had access to the same services that people in the city did. My university is known around the world in my field and my education is not only free, but my government pays ME to go to university. Everyone has a right to this. Everyone has a right to the best healthcare, there is no such thing as health insurance. I am young now and able to take risks and pursue my passion because I will never have to worry about starving if I loose my job or my business fails. I know that when I am old my state pension will be there for me so that I can enjoy my retirement. We call this the Nordic Model, and under it we live well and our businesses are among the most competitive in the world. I am grateful to have been born a citizen of a country that cares for its people, and I hope that one day the USA will take example from us. I am the 99%.

i hear canada is nice in in the summer
TBH we're not all that much different than you guys. just slightly less capitalist. i dont think a socialist system like finland's would work in the US. youre population is way high and finding the money to come up with the safety nets, services and such like finland has, would probably have to come from the higher class and corporations. we know what theyre like about their money. Higher taxation wouldnt fly with the majority of your (and probably any) population either, unless the results were nearly instant and painfully obvious.

Not really. We're supposed to guide the government on what we want, not the other way around. Problem is, it's not us doing the guiding anymore. It's a select few who can afford to lobby for what they want. Even then the public might still have the power to affect true change by at least voting those who work against their own interests out of office. But they won't. No one cares about politics until it does something to target their entertainment. It's why the NDAA passed without a whisper, but SOPA was hit with pseudo-righteous fury. As long as war doesn't affect their food supply or their source of stress relief, no one will do anything to stop it.

If the government truly took what the American people had to say at heart we would be a different country today. Now that could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending. Still every year taxes go up,not just in filing but the cost of anything plus tax.Polls go up and take count of what we are thinking (which by the way I have done) and still,we engage in wars, can't get a good paying job, then get taxed to death and can't afford our medical needs. Yes in a dream world, maybe it would be the other way around but this life isn't like that at all. I refuse to help put in office someone I don't believe should be there. I was super excited Obama became president for the simple fact if we live in an America that can see beyond someone's skin color then maybe America can one day see beyond someone's gender.I thought he as an African-American would step in the big shoes and help make America what she should be..But I was wrong.Very wrong...

What could he do with Congress fighting him every step of the way? He can only approve bills and such that make it to him. He's tried compromise after compromise with the Republicans only to have them walk away from the table when they don't get everything they want. Maybe it's a campaign tactic, but he's finally starting to actually call them on their crap. Maybe if the voters could be brought to pay attention this time we could vote in some people he could actually work with.
That's not to say he's flawless, mind you. But at the very least he is soooo much better than the opposition.

You make valid points but he also knew this is how it is done yet ran and won anyway. The American president has more say so then you think, which you will find out I the long run. We always do.And he is human,so of corse there will be noticeable flaws. It's in all of us. But when you spend most of your time campaigning about "Change" you have talked many into voting and putting you comfortably in office. So stick to your guns and do it. Ask other people from around the world about how they view us.Get ready to be offended. People can't help but to view us in a negative light. But it's almost like holding A parent responsible for his children. Obama is responsible and we are forced to just sit in a corner, despite the kicking and screaming.
