Anybody out there playing Rocksmith at all? I picked it up not too long ago and for a beginning guitar player such as myself I've been finding it quite difficult lol.

Any tips and things to work on for someone just starting out?

It's a bit like Rock Band with the play style, but you use a real guitar.

Here's the IGN review:

That would be great for really learning the guitar.

So far it's taught me a few things. My dexterity and han positioning isn't too great yet, and I have a little trouble keeping an eye on the screen and not looking at the guitar. I'm sure with enough practice that will change.

damn that video definitely convinced me not to get it. I really dont like the guitar. much prefer the drums. my brother would definitely be interested in it. except he is already pretty good and based on that review it would just bore him

One of my friends has been playing guitar for 8 years, and he took a shot at it once. He liked the mini games, plus if pretty much does teach you the songs that you play in the game. He could use it to learn some new material.

I've been considering it, but was hoping for a price cut. I've always struggled with hand dexterity and position myself. I saw a video where a guy practiced and then played the song on stage with the band that was pretty cool. Keep us posted.

Wow that's pretty cool. I haven't been playing this lately but that's definitely inspiration to go pick the game back up. I had put it down because I had a hard time with the positioning of my hand, but looks like I should use this in addition to my other teaching materials.

It's really cool, I've got to say even though for me it can get difficult sometimes, it does get enjoyable once you get to know a song and can do fairly well with it.

Yeah it really does feel good. But I haven't played in a while. I should start it up soon after doing some actual guitar practice.

Well I picked it up with a Christmas giftcard on Boxing Day (Day after Christmas here in Canada. I guess you could compare it to the American Black Friday), as it was on sale. Only paid $23 out of my pocket for it! Smile

I'm really enjoying it. I had some severe audio lag at first, but that was due to using video and audio on the TV. The game recommends you use the composite (RCA/L and R/Red and White) connections that come by default with the PS3 for the audio output. That is fine and dandy except that I put my surround system away until the twins are older. Speakers, and speaker stands are fun toys! Puzzled

Now, the game does have lag correction, but it really wasn't cutting it. Then it struck me!!!
I head down to the local electronics store and picked up a 'Y' connector - Stereo RCA to 1/4"
stereo jack! I know play Rocksmith through my guitar amp, and it's AWESOME!!!

A cool thing with this setup, besides guitar through guitar amp for a game, is that the game has a "free play" mode, and pedal effects. I have a crazy ammount of effects which I can customize/equalize to my liking now!
