So I came home today to bad bunny news.

Back story:

Her original owner had to move to Toronto and couldn't take Sunshine with her. We offered to take her and have had her since. When we got her she had a "weepy eye" which we assumed was a result of her being in a cold garage during the short transition between her original owner's home and ours. We got her checked up at a vet, who wanted an obscene amount of money to put her under and find out what was wrong with her.

We called up her owner and found out a bunch of things, including the fact she hadn't been spayed yet. Rabbits can get cancer if they're not spayed, so when we took her to a rabbit specialist we had her spayed, teeth ground down and her eye looked at. She was okay and her eye was good most of the time. They said when they tried to clear it out that something didn't get completely clear, so we figured there would always be a little something.

We took her to get her annual check-up last week and had her teeth ground down too. Her eye was weepy again, but it's kind of a constant thing. She was put in her cage one night, and then next morning it was really bad. We thought it might be something related to the teeth being ground down, so we made an appointment for today.

I came home and found out that somehow she's apparently poked her eye and it's in bad shape. She's staying at the vet for the night.

So... idk. I hope she comes home with two eyes. :/

Since she wasn't happy at the vet and they had to force feed her and all her medication can be given to her at home, we brought her home. Her eye isn't gooey right now which is why they let us bring her home, but her eye is cloudy. We have this crazy medication schedule for her so it's all written down. She's flopping like her mostly normal self now that she's home.

We're going to take pictures of her eye every day and send them to the vet, and if he thinks it's getting worse we bring her in sooner than next Friday.

She's flopping and showing her feet, which are always signs of relaxed bunny. Smile

It will be easier for her to get better if she's relaxed

Sunshine went in for her second check-up. The vet is much happier with her eye and wants us to keep giving her medications for another two weeks. She might get to keep her eye. Very Happy= :D

Overdue bunny update:

There's some sort of ulcer on her eye and in recent weeks it's been getting smaller. In the last week or so there's been a clear whole growing in the middle of the white ulcer which is good because it means her eye is getting better. The ulcer itself is also getting smaller. The vet has been happy with her progress for the last few visits so right now it looks like she'll get to keep her eye.

Our bunny is fat and our kitty is a perfect weight. I guess you have to have at least one of each. Laughing

I guess this could do with a bump.

Sunshine's eye has been doing well and the vet gave the okay for her to come off her last bit of medicine which was just a cream that we had to put on her eye. Her eye for the most part looks normal except there's still a scar/spot there and we're not sure if she can contract that pupil anymore. I guess she's partially blind now on that side, and acts like it sometimes. Other than that she acts like her normal self.

Since she was spayed so late (since her first owner didn't educate herself much on bunnies) it's likely that was the cause of what the vet thinks is bunny breast cancer. We've been suspicious of the lump for a while now and had it removed about three weeks ago and today she had her stitches removed. Again, she's acting like her normal self but the surgery was hard on her and she's getting old as bunnies go, so there may be some tough decisions if more cancer appears.

Evey's settled down quite nicely now. She rotates through cuddling and hanging out with everyone in the house and keeps people company if they're alone. She's a real sweetheart; I can't really say much more there. Smile
