This was a movie that caught my eye when it was previewd in theatres. I didnt get a chance to see it at all but rented the Blu Ray last night.
one guy I have been very impressed with over and over is how much Will Smith has expanded his skill set. originally just a funny, action guy I was very impressed with the way he can really show emotion and bring the viewer in to his performances. I am Legend, Pursuit of Happiness and now, this movie, seven Pounds really show off his talents.
I won't spoil it but the movie starts off with Ben breathing hard and on the phone with 911. He requests an ambulance to his location and the operator asks what the emergency is - " I want to report a suicide" he says. the operator asks who the victim is to which ben replies, " I am. "
From there the movie takes a meandering road slowly bringing us in and clearly showing that this man has a huge burden on his soul that is slowly tearing him apart. The story is one of self absolution from guilt. But from what, I won't tell.
Woody Harrelson and Rosario Dawson also give strong performances. Was worth my money.
