Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Empty
PostSubject: Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep   Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep EmptySat Aug 21, 2010 4:20 pm

Well, I've been waiting for a reason to dust off my PSP for a good while now after I finished Retribution. Finally KH: BBS will be released in English.

After watching the preview they mention more "decks". Now, After not being able to get into CHain of Memories based on the card system and then have a deck like system in 358/2 days, I'm actually nervous of how these "decks" will control my play style like they did previously. I don't like this setup where if you run out of a card thats in my deck you're stuck or you need to re-add them. thats not Kingdom Hearts to me. KH is an action adventure without having a limited number of attacks that I need to go into a menu and recharge and re-add. Magic makes sense if you use up MP or a gauge, but to have each spell or something as a "card" or something is completely NOT what KH should be.

THe trailer looks good as far as action is concerned and looks the most true to KH 1 and 2. I'm hoping that will be the case.

This game looks like it's going to be the best KH yet.

I hate it.

I have no PSP.

Leonard ****ing Nimoy, Mark ****ing Hamill, continuity porn galore, no loose ends and lots of explanations, D-Link, the same team that developed the battle system for CoM (which is currently the best KH title, in my opinion), etc.

I have no PSP.

I hate it.

And this is what scares the hell out of me. I have Chain Of Memories PS2 version sitting on my shelf and haven't touched it since just after I bought it. I couldn't stand it.

358/2 days wasn't AS bad, but the fact I can run out of basic stuff is annoying as hell. Give me my HP and MP bars. Items can be used up as normal. Give me the awesomeness that was KH 1 & 2 No

But that's the beauty of it - it takes actual skill and rationing ability to use your abilities in Days (I don't see what the problem is as far as CoM is concerned, since cards were reloadable... unless you were really sleight-happy). KH1 was good, but KH2's battle system was all finesse and button-mashing. Even on Proud mode. With the exception of a handful of bosses, you could get through by mashing the Attack button (to say nothing of Reflect abuse). The final boss in KH2 was - literally, and no exaggeration - a marathon of mashing Triangle and X. Chain of Memories and Days forced one to employ strategy and ration supplies. It added a much-appreciated challenge.

I guess I just disagree on this one. 2 cents

(Incidentally, I can't stress how much you're missing out by not playing Re:CoM. The voices are spot-on - and in Vexen's case, downright hilarious - and the effects and sleights are rendered in polygonal glory.)

Well here's the review and after seeing this I'm very encouraged by battle system at this point. So I'm pretty excited to pick this bad boy up when I can Smile
