| YaY! More embarrassment for the non-updating Uncharted2 stat-box. Leo has teh positive K/D now. I'm still rolling a majority of time with the handgun, picking up the shotty or RPG and just holding onto it, but I'll bust out the FAL on The Fort or The Temple to grab some sweet kills. And if I get a chance to grab me a sniper or Hammer... Dude. I'm so in agreement now with Ender about Numerals and positives, met one this morning with "Sitch", he sat up on the raised level on The Fort, corner sniping (FAL) anyone who ran out from underneath. I don't think you could get much cheaper than that, even when you knew where he was you couldn't really get a shot on him, if you 'naded he just stepped away from the corner and took cover. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! |

| Perhaps it's just my inexperience with multiplayer, but I'm a bit confused. I know you get 'negative boosters' after a certain level, and that using them increases the money you make(?) in a match. Why do you guys consider it wrong not to use them when you get them, but right not to use them when you are at higher levels? And in the case where they don't use them at all, yes it takes more skill to play at a handicap, but people can play a game for a very long time and still not develop real skill with it, and all it really takes to get to a high level is time. I just don't get why it draws so much anger. Am I missing something? |

| IMO, it pretty much sums up the definition of 'Noob' when the game you're playing offers you the chance to be the anti-noob (physically show other players that you are good enough to beat them despite handicap) yet you still use and abuse boosters to give yourself an edge over less experienced players. Once you have reached the stage of 'Numeral' there is little doubt that you should have very good knowledge of the maps and required playstyle of the game to be able to outperform others without that much experience (Accepting Monkey's point about higher ranks only requiring more time and generalising somewhat). A comparison that could be made would be a Supreme Commander in Resistance who does nothing but whore the Wraith and destroy newer players, they've found the easiest way to kill and don't wish to give it up because then they would just be average again. I've always found myself frustrated by this approach to gaming, it's just that with the option of balancing through use of the negative boosters it's more obvious in this game and therefore easier to call when you see it happening. |

| Man, this topic got busy after I left. Camping is very hit or miss. Somewhere around mid-thirties, I picked up a FAL for the first time, after watching my buddy Shayan rock it, and this game finally started to click. I started to go positive, and I started to embrace a more cautious and high-grounds style, but I try to still remain mobile, and patrol the map. I just want to be on high-ground, and see you before you see me. That being said, I also went through a phase where I tried to push the more aggressive style that Vash and Raistlin have, and use some of those tools to make my style a bit more rounded, and just be a more rounded player. Camping, when done intelligently, can be pretty rough. Chad and I recently played against Akpein and a few of his buddies, where we were spawncamped hard on Temple, and it was incredibly difficult to break out of it. They had a good plan, better communication than we had, and they made it work. It was something I'd never really had done before, and it was interesting to see, as frustrating as it might've been at the time. My personal best, with a campy style, was a 30-1 on Fort, with Vash. I stayed in the back spawn channels the whole time, dying once, to a grenade drop I couldn't quite hop away from. Happens. This included taking down multiple people trying to rush the back channel, and people trying to shoot from my blindspots. If you're good with your FAL, you can really make it work. I've also gotten countless triples from the top of the Village, in the high-spawn. Vash and I camp that map with the GAU and a FAL, really. It's not always easy to set-up, sometimes we flop before we get it set-up, but we've worked hard to get that strategy to where it is, and we make it work. Outshooting Hammers and Snipers isn't the easiest thing in the world. Monkey, I do have an issue with X's that rock double-positives, but at the same time, it's a hell of an achievement, and they've earned it, without complaint, from me. The need for the Badges isn't there anymore. I won't let myself run double-positives until X, and even then, I'll likely rock nothing, or double-negatives, and finally get some Half-Blinds or something. Right now, I'm using Veiled/Half-Loaded, until I can get Glass Jaw, in two more levels. Raist, I'll go ahead and send you that pic. It's just a picture of the golden statue in the back of the Shotgun room in Temple, like Knux said. And Knux.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I think this means we've gotta hug our TVs again, man. |

| I just went on Naughty Dog's site to see if the stats would update... Strangely enough they've uploaded the details of the games I played this morning (Cool feature ) as a level 40 but still show me as a level 38. I looked to see what my weapon stats were and saw that I've got 1,044 92FS kills and the next highest after Grenade kills (275) is the AK at only 119. You can call me an official handgun-whore. |

| Nicely done, Leo. You'll be a numeral in no time.
The FS is so much better than people give it credit for. It's angry, it's accurate, and has a really solid rate of fire. It's four bodyshots, and it catches people off guard all the time.
When you start to consistently outshoot Hammers and Snipers is when it gets amusing. The rage is neverending. |

| Guys, I see your points, but I still have to disagree. Perhaps there are some more broken boosters later on that I haven't seen, otherwise that would in no way put them level with a Wraith noob. All the boosters that I've seen help a bit, but none has been able to own from the outset. Down the Irons isn't exactly Akimbo/Silenced Shotguns with Stopping Power. Maybe I'll change my opinion once I play some more, idk. Three things. If everyone uses a handicap, then isn't the playing field back to about level again? And if it is, are you still proving anything? And, aren't the skins that make noise (or glow) a kind of handicap? Wouldn't playing with them force you to improve even more? Yet I know you guys don't use the originals anymore. The game gives you the opportunity, but you don't take it. You've found something that works and haven't looked back. I understand about wanting to prove something for yourself. Heck, I once did a run through of Zelda: Ocarina of Time doing a challenge to have only three hearts and no deaths. Which I bring up for two reasons. One, because it's relevant to the point I'm making. And two, because that was hard and I'm proud of having pulled it off, making it relevant to my point. But I'm not going to call out players who haven't done it. Though I can agree that it made me up my game. I had to roll, dodge, and outmaneuver things that I would previously have just powered through. Similar thing in MW2. The ACR was (and is) my go to weapon. Once I hit level 48 I didn't use anything else. There was no need, I had found what worked best for me. Then I prestiged and decided that this time I would learn to snipe. I did so, and became less than average in the process. For a while. Again, I had to up my game. Expand my array of skills, and I am now adequate with both styles, though not great. So I can agree with wanting to do that. I think it's a good thing that helps a gamer become better than they were. There's nothing wrong with that. However. Not everyone wants to really develop that much skill. Some just want to play for the fun of it. They just want to play on a level playing field with everyone else. There's nothing wrong with that either. What it comes down to is that it's a matter of choice. I just don't see how you can get so mad at them. No malice in this post. Just a different point of view. I know you know that, but you know me. I worry. |

| The way I see it, people who don't use Negative boosters when they are in their numerals (except X) aren't comfortable with their playing ability. They don't think that they can even survive with a handycap, and that's their choice. Their punishment, however, is that it will take them a lifetime to get to X. Meanwhile, if you are confident in your skills and decide to rock a negative, you are rewarded with a massive amount of money, therefore allowing you to get to the allmight X. In my opinion, it's stupid to NOT have at least one negative if you have any ambition to get to X. I mean, Raist is always saying how long it takes to get to X. Imagine how long it would take if you weren't making $50k a game In terms of the camping thing, I've never done well while I camp. I end up getting bored quite quickly, and then I lose focus, and when a guy does come along, I'm not ready for him and I get killed. When I play extremely aggressive, oftentimes it makes the enemy nervous. Like, "OMG?! WTF IS THIS GUY DOING?!" Not to mention it's fun as hell. (Plus, a 2.14 K/D doesn't lie ) |

| BTW new update in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! * Removed automatic shoulder selection when players click the L1 shoulder button to aim * Delayed the appearance of the scoreboard to allow time for players to view any medals received simultaneously with player death At the same time the Title Update is released, we’ll also be pushing live updates to other aspects of our multiplayer. These updates include: * Adjusted hitbox attributes so that players will take less damage to the character’s legs * Decreased kill radius of grenades by 1 meter * Decreased accuracy of Down the Irons by 15% * Reduced rate of fire of the FAL by 10% * Reduced rate of fire for the Dragon Sniper by 10% * Collision and geometry changes to “The Fort” to prevent intentional glitching by players SHOULD BE INTERESTING |

| NoooooooOOooooOOOOOOOOOO!
My FAL! Leave it alone!
Ugh. What the good Naughty Dog giveth, they also taketh away.
Man, I'm terribly out of practice right now. I'm coming up on like, two weeks without playing any at all, really, and it's showing. I went negative in my first game tonight, like, 6-10, and then I managed to pull out of the nosedive at 10-5 in Sunken Ruins. Still can't stand that map, though. It just feels so boring, I just haven't had a very enjoyable game on it, yet. It's also really annoying for Elimination, because it can be hard to comb through those back houses carefully.
I'll post it up in the Game Night Request thread too, but I guess I'm working a shift on Saturday, so I won't be on until later on in the day, Saturday. I should still be available most of Sunday, as well, if anybody wants to get some games in. Raist, I'm lookin' at you, man. You and your not feeling well, and all this Heavy Rain and Bioshock non-sense.
I'm hoping I can hobble together my VI this week, in the random games I can get after work, before I'm too tired to even nade-drop, and then I'm still hoping I can binge-game at least a good chunk of my way to VII. Can't wait to get that Glass Jaw, and that golden badge. Need to get back into it though, that hiatus is doing me no favors.
I am definitely glad that they're fixing the Fort glitches, because lately, it feels like I can't get a game, where there's not at least 1 person somewhere in the walls. I know it's not that bad, but those games certainly do stick out. I'm also beyond glad that they've removed the shoulder auto-adjust, I've hated that feature since it was implemented. It's just obnoxious.
I don't know that I agree or disagree with anything else, beyond hating the FAL nerf on principle. I don't think it's a huge deal, I'm just going to have to re-adjust. With the Sniper moving on up to bonafide power-wep status, I think a slight RoF nerf is fine, since it'll still be that one-shot kill.
Not sure I understand the reasoning behind the grenade nerf, or the DtI nerf, but change isn't necessarily bad. It'll certainly make nade-drops a little bit less effective, so hopefully we'll start to see a bit less of that, as an absolute game-plan, instead of a sacrificial bunt kinda thing. |

| Got to level 30 tonight. Had about two good games out of the ones I played. The rest were just lousy. I (like all newbs) blame lag. Seriously, most of my money tonight came from Retaliations where I'd be in a shootout, I'd start shooting first, get killed by them, then my shots would register, and they'd die. Very frustrating when your first game of the night is 24-10, then the rest are all barely scraping positive or going negative. Oh, well. Maybe I'll have better luck next time. Oh, I did hit the jackpot though. Kills:7 Deaths:7 Assists:7 lol |
