| The thing that bugs me is the rather pricey monthly subscription fee.
Trailers look cool, though. |

| Agreed, it does seem expensive, on the fees. Still gonna check it out, blah blah blah, if I like it, well and good. Subscription fees below. - Quote :
- According to a Sony spokesperson, the revenue model will be subscription based with a user cost of $14.99 per month,[15] rather than using microtransactions.[16] Eurogamer.net has confirmed for the UK the subscription will be £9.99 a month, £27.99 for three months, and £49.99 for six months
Euro costs would be roughly the same, in terms of the exchange rate, but I believe if memory serves right its like 12.99 a month 30 something for 3 and near sixty for 6 months there and abouts. If I do get it, just putting the subscription on the "Whats the next gift you want" thing between me and Lisa. |

| I too like the looks of this game but just as Turtle mentioned, it is quite costly and far too expensive for me atm. When things turn around for me, I might look at this games direction again. Let us know your review on it though, Liam, if you decide to give it a go. |

| Will do. I'm owed a giddy, so I'll probably get it on Friday. Gonna go have a chat with the Game Stop guys first and see if there were any returns/complaints in regards to the Internet Providers. |

| I just picked it up. because of 1 thing. Its combat isn't like other mmos. You do combos and block and such. So the combat is more like an action-adventure/beat em up, then an MMO.
also as for the monthly fees the way I look at it is since it comes with 1 free month I'll buy it play it for a month, most likely I'll get my moneys worth by then, and when my 1 month runs out KZ3 will be coming out the next day, so I'll end my subscription there, then when there is a month or more where there is nothing coming out im interested in and im not playing anything at the time I'll start back up my subscription and play again.
Also It required a 135 mb update similar to most game updates, but then it also is downloading an 11 gig update using the in game UI |

| Played for a bit. Level 7 now. I've pretty much just played it like a brawler with equipment/levels, and its been a lot of fun. And sometimes there would be other people coming in and assisting me and such, like a few times ive been fighting 3 or 4 enemies at once, when all of a sudden a car comes flying out of no where and kills them all, or at least sends them all flying back. It kinda feels like borderlands as far as the rpg to brawler goes. like how borderlands in a fun shooter with some rpg elements to mix things up, DCU is a fun brawler with mmorpg elements to mix things up - Raistlin wrote:

| Rightio time for initial impressions.
Like Nobody said there is some downloadling, the bulk of it 11 Gigs, done from the disc I think, either way it flies through that fair quick, bout 15 mins I think, then you have a further 2 Gig download from the web and one update. Over all on an 8 meg line took me an hour and a half roughly. After that any other time you put the game in it just flies into the game in 5 minutes.
Starting off you choose your server from a list. PvE or PvP types available. You will then be brought in to Character creation which is simple enough choosing Gender, Movement type, powers, weapons, mentors. Simple enough.
Your given a fairly simple selection from the list of items to create and design your Character. This is the start off stuff, but as you progress and depending on who your mentor is and who you do jobs for you will get some fairly decent looking threads in no time. Also handy is if you have your character looking the way you want and don't wanna change anything you can lock the look but get the stats from future equipment with out changing the style. And if you decide that you like the look of the new stuff you can choose that one to be the look for you.
You will then get your start off tutorial on combat and movement thats fairly easy enough without interference from other players.
I have Created 6 Characters in order to get a handle on the different powers available as well as the movement modes.
Fire: As you would guess you get to use powers that are predominatly fire based, Mostly for Damage Dealing
Ice: Ice based attacks that damage or help contain enemies
Gadgets: Like Batman & Joker you use gadgets that help you in battle from stunning to distraction as well as damage.
Sorcery: Magic Powers that let you heal and damage and summon freaky looking things.
Nature: A bit more health based than Sorcery, you use the power of nature.
Mental Powers: Mainly a damage role with some incapacitating abilities.
^Thats just the general idea I got from the low level characters I used (Got em all up to level 7 then started to focus on one and got him to 13 or 14)
At Level 10 you unlock "Iconic Powers" which gives you the choice to choose from say Supermans heat vision, or Batmans batarang attack along with various other iconic powers that heroes are known for as well as villians.
At Level 9 you will gain access to your movement type abilities, from attacks to increasing the speed.
You are given an ability tray, to choose which abilities you want to use. Holding L2 or R2 and pressing the corrissponding button for the ability uses it. You can change your loud outs or "Class" in the abilities section. Class is defined under what role you want in combat from Damage to Controler, Think you unlock more as you go along.
Movement types Flight: As you guess you can fly. Utilised easily enough but a bit slow for my taste at times but you can unlock a speed upgrade to it.
Super Speed: Like the flash you move around fast, up along walls. The Speed unlock gets you going around really fast.
Agility: Like Batman, but with a mix of Spidermans wall crawling. You can glide from building to building.
Getting in and out of movement modes is easy enough, simply click L3 and you can walk and run like normal. If your hit while moving around in your choosen mode you'll go slower/enter combat which can be a bit of a hassle getting out of a tight spot at times.
The world itself is open, split between Gotham and Metropolis (start off area dependent on who you choose as a Mentor and you can move between the cities themselves.)
Quests are giving from mentors and even more unlocked as you level up. At times you will be partnered with a Legend.
Weapons/Combat You have a choice of Combat styles so far I have choosen the following: Staff: You use a big stick. Quick Medium damage
Duel Guns: Bang Bang. Kinda weaker than I was expecting
Duel Weld: Two Identical weapons. Fast, weak but good for combos
Fists: Punching, kinda slow, but stronger.
Power gloves: Pew Pew, kinda like Iron man cept weaker than Ironmans, still good stuff though
One handed: One handed weapon like an ax or a sword.
Each combat style has a melee attack and range attack. For example Guns, you pistol whip the hell outta people and for punching you will clap your hands together for a blast of air to do damage.
Targeting at times can be a little annoying, for example you will auto target whats directly in front of you even if he is out of range not the one closest, but thats easy to get around by turning. You can lock on by holding L1. Combos are unlocked as you level up in the skills tree. Combos could range from tapping Triangle then holding it, or tapping square 2 times then holding Triangle.
Enemies Depending on your mentor your enimies have different classes from small to weak to big and strong or small and strong and well as the level that your current quest is set on. You don't really get much Exp from enemies, you mostly get them from the quests. Each enemy type requires a tactic to get around. Careful as they do tend to respawn quick enough and you could find yourself coming into range with another group.
Boss Battles are against the various villians and tend to rely on some tactics, but they do tend to run the same way "This boss is going to do this, get into a state of weakness, beat the crap out of him, he is powered up run like Bullet Bill F BOMB!"
There are a few times where I got my arse kicked and had to respawn, the only penalty been going to the nearest "Rally Point"/"Entry point" and making my way back to where I was. You don't lose Exp or get what you made taken from you. However if you are beating by a boss and you make your way back he will be at full health.
From quests you get new items, also there is an investigation thing or Side Quests to the Quests that you are doing for example, you need to beat up some thugs but the thugs drop something so pick up a certain number of them that will get you additional Exp, cash reward and probably a consumable. Investigations are part of the quests that you are doing and you have to find the little green Exclamation point in the area that you are currently in as part of the overall quest. collecting them all gets you an additional Item and some exp. Some of your items can break and you will have to get them repaired, but thats cheap enough. You can also go to the "Vault" once a day where you break a few boxes and get cash, items or "Styles" to change the way you look.
Overall the game is good and I am really enjoying myself. As for the subscription costs I'm thinking the same way as nobody, get a month free, if I wanna continue again just pay it when the current runs out and go from there, If I wanna go back into it I'll pay for how long I want depending on whats coming out and when.
I will be focusing between the different heroes and villians to get a feel for them. Currently using "Axis Commander" (Commander Axis was taken as was simply Axis). He's a trench coat wearing Matias Nilson look alike who stole Professor X's mind abilitiles, broke into Iron Mans house and stole his laser gloves then went ahead started using nitrogen to run around really fast by farting.

| Cheers.
Other characters Created.
Nega Axis: Axis Commanders "Villian". Agility and guns with gadgets.
Volcanus: Flying lump of lava hero that uses fire and a sword
Freezer Burn: Speedster Ice man villian thats afraid of hairdryers cause he's a block of ice with two swords cause he wants to be better than volcanus.
Power House: Agile villain that punches and uses magic. Looks like he took a lotta steriods
Natures Spirit: Flying Flower child hero that uses a big stick and has wings. He's a pussy.
I really like some of the originality in people naming stuff, then people trying to make their characters look like Marvel characters. Also the names. "Flower Dude" Pretty much like my hippy cept different look, not much effort put in. "The One" a Neo wannabe. I loled when he kept saying "Whoa!" |

| yea, also the 6 types are split into 3 different groups.
fire and ice are defense (basically tank class) gadget and mental are control (they have a lot of stun and other stuff like that) and nature and sorcery is healer (should be obvious)
also nature has a lot of self transformation stuff, and sorcery has a lot of stuff involving cursing your enemy and turning them into "helpless animals". (both of which also heal obviously) |

| I just want to hurt stuff so I don't pay attention to the different roles. Thanks for filling that in and pointing it out though, never would have thought of it, and the other people that are more into roles could do with it.
Took down my first Bounty last night. Was doing a quest, minding my own business pummelling LexCorp worker who were only out to make money anyway they can for their starving family when out of no where Bizzarro drops down and kicks the shit outta me. Respawned back at the cop house, went back to where bizzaro was and got knocked the Bullet Bill F BOMB out again. Third time lucky? Noooooo So waited till a group was going for him and joined in. 5 further tries with a group of four plus six other randoms and he is conked out. I revived a lotta people. Had all my gear broken twice too. But hey least I got a crappy piece of gear out of it that covered the repairs cost. For a lower level bounty he's a bollocks. |

| Right now I have a character assigned to each fighting style. Total of ten Characters. 8 on 2 seperate PVE servers and two on seperate PVP Servers.
PVP Servers are a mixture of fun and annoyment. Fun cause you can fight players on the other side, annoying cause some players camp low level quest areas for the opposite sides low level people. (Strangely enough it seems to be the heroes who do the camping more than the villians.)
Anyone need quick tips on weapon styles or thoughts on them let me know.
Seen another player while on my Main Axis account that basically recreated on of my characters after I did with essentially the same name only for a different letter in one place. I larfed then helped him with a mission.
Already had two characters invite me to leagues (The Surgery & teamXtreme) both set up by relativly new people and small groups to help them out. Easy to make friends on this game and most of the people are very friendly so far. |

| I think the Aussies are on the EU Servers, I was over on the official forums and seen some aussies talking about it. I've pretty much got a few characters on every EU Server only one on each PVP. What you could do is ask the local Gamestop what servers they use/names of the servers that are in action. If they are the same as the EU's I can pretty much join you on anyone. |

Not sure you would want a second hand/Cheap one, You get a month free with the Newer versions. However they do have a deal going at the moment for the 3 month subscription where its fair cheaper than the monthly. |
