Nobody was kind enough to gift this game to me. Seriously, it just appeared on my computer.
First impressions: It's fun. The goal is to make it through waves of enemies and eventually to a boss in some levels. As you complete rounds you move through the level piece by piece, so the scenery and battlefields change. You can kit out your character as you level up. Starting weapons kinda suck though. Be very glad when I can ditch that shotgun. Having this many enemies at once doesn't really allow for a long reload time in my (admittedly limited) experience. Teams share a pool of lives. If all of those lives are depleted it's game over. Each player has a special ability they can activate once they kill enough enemies, stuff like a shield, a health regen aura, and things like that. Very Resistance 2, in fact. Oaths take a page from Bastion's idols. You can intentionally put a limitation on yourself that makes it harder to win (get less ammo from pickups, take more damage, etc.) in exchange for significant increases to your money and EXP gains.
The stars here, imho, are the various conditions that can affect the players during every round, not unlike Borderlands' Underdrome DLC's arena. Some are helpful: Enemies that enter an area take damage. Random periods of Invisibility/Invincibility. Some are harmful: Players that leave an area take damage. Players share a single lifebar. (!) Enemies are larger and stronger. Some are a mixed bag: Constantly lose ammo, but ammo spawns like crazy. Constantly regen health, but your max health is reduced. Players and enemies both die in one hit. It definitely keeps it interesting.

the shotgun is awesome. I never used it at 1st, but I upgraded the reload speed as soon as I hit level 1, and now it is pretty good. I use it to kill most meatier enemies.
EDIT: just got a test of faith called arrow where I have infinite ammo, this means no reloading. my shotgun totally destroyed them all.

are you referring to the freezing up and such? (I dont have time to watch the full video atm) I have not had any technical difficulties, aside from some minor hiccups when trying to get a party going, but I think that was mostly just cobalts internet. from the sounds of it there were some issues when he was trying to record it that was the problem.

I wasn't even aware you could upgrade weapons themselves. Thought you could only buy new ones.

hahaha. wow.
when you are in the weapon purchase menu if you are selecting a weapon you already have to the right of back is modification. and if you get all upgrades you can get an olympian version, which is basically a super upgrade. the shotgun adds more barrels a larger clip, and something else i forgot. I have all the upgrades just need to level up once wil I can unlock the olympian one.

Well, that certainly helped. I managed to take out the Fire Demon boss solo. I was on my last life and at 13 health/0armor when I did it, but I pulled through. Also had 3 oaths going. Less Heath from pickups, Less Armor from pickups, and locked Ability. Up to level 7 now and almost ready to turn that SMG into an Olympian.

generally he gives a rather objective view of a game, but when he hates on a game he always really hates on it.
the game has issues but at its core i find it enjoyable. maybe not for everyone, but if you enjoy horde mode type games then you probably would enjoy it. also it can be a little grindy at 1st. but once you get into the swing of things and can handle putting on oaths (which boost xp and gold) it goes much smoother.

For the record, I don't generally like horde type games, but this one is pretty fun.
If I had a complaint it would be that some enemies seem to just be able to hit you at will with projectiles. Mostly those bats and harpies. There's almost no way to keep everything on screen in some levels, and I tend to get shot in the back from off screen with no reliable way to dodge. I mean, I try to keep moving, but often enough you move into attacks that way too. Particularly noticeable with the thrown axes.
