THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS!

The good:
Autobot campaign is truly awesome, full of hints to the G1 series.
Guns are amazing, just what you would expect from this game.
Although every character animation is different from the movies, the new anamation makes the characters look even better.
The multiplayer will keep you VERY entertained, the same setup as COD.
The bosses are ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR, some of the greatest boss fights in any video game, ever.
The fact that you can transform at any given moment in the level, gives more vantage points to fight hordes of enemies (as you will face a lot of them.)
The new Escalation mode is the brother of the horde mode of Gears of War. But, it might even be better then the Gears mode.
You can play the 2 campaigns online with friends, which adds some replay value.
Great graphics.
It answers many unanswered questions like how Bumblebee and Optimus met, and how Starscream met Megatron, and why Megatron keeps him in his ranks.

The bad:
Decepticon campaign isn't as good as the autobot campaign, it just seems a little more bland.
The backround and the types of enemies get repetitive.
You definitely run out of ammo WAY too soon.
My biggest complaint: There is no cover, NONE, you cant hide, all you can is stand in front of objects and let them take some bullets for you.

Overall rating: 9.0
I strongly suggest buying even if you're not a transformers fan, it's worth a rental.

Look like some people are taking this game for granted, thinking it's just as good as the movies. facepalm2

i borrowed this from my brother in law and gave it a chance, being a BIG TF fan. Honestly, I enjoyed it, but it left me feeling a little bit *MEH* overall. In the end, i really felt like I played the same game twice. The campaigns are entirely too similar, having almost parallel campaigns, and the final boss fights, while great in terms of scope, are almost identical.

character selection is far too limited, in my opinion. each level you can choose one of three characters suited to teh mission, and this makes sense in the flight levels in teh autobot campaign, as there were limited autobot fliers, but there are too many autobot soldiers to be hheld to selecting just one. and it doesnt matter who you pick, because they all play about the same. there's no benefit to picking Optimus over bumblebee, or vice versa, except that optimus can use his special ion gun and BB cannot, but BB isnt faster or quicker because of his size. And playing solo, there is no reason whatsoever to choose a scientist character because there's no need to heal anyone.

I feel the same way matt did in a lot of respects, but I found the combat repetitive and uninspiring, and the enemy AI no smarter than lemmings. And once you figure out the boss patterns, its just a matter of time before they go down; its more luck than skill, really, as sometimes the attacks get cheap and getting your attention over to what's attacking you can be difficult.

On that note, identifying enemies can be difficult in some of the more busy areas. its hard to see whats shooting you from where sometimes.

Definitely a rental, but I wouldn't buy it, as there isn't much long term replayability. For me:
Pros:
great storytelling
authentic voiceover work
great visuals and design

Cons:
repetition
uninspired combat
lack of character selection
