This is making me not want to get the map packs.

I know what you mean. I'm tempted, but would the money not be better spent going towards the next full game instead? The new maps will be fun but they're still gonna have the same professional 'tubers' and Super Soldiers running amok.

Domination and Ground War are the worst for BS play, IMHO. Try TDM's - usually not as bad (though campier). Make a payback class for when you get really pissed off, and give em some payback. I was playing domination against a REALLY scrubby team last night, nothing but noob tubes ALL game on Karachi - next map was rundown, so I made a M4/GL, ATS-4, Danger Close, Scavenger Class and noob tubed the crap outta them...I think I went around 45-20 and we won by 70 points or so. Payback's a bitch....

Screw it. I'll skip on the map packs, and I'll play FF13 unless we have a large party going.

The more I use a Marathon Pro + UMP class the more I get good scores. 30 for 10 on Rust in a TDM. That's not bad.

HQ is by far the king of the noob tubes. To me, that mode has been ruined. There is no joy in winning it because I still get tubed 10+ times a game. I find it more frustrating than it's worth.
I'm ready for the new maps! I'm getting bored with the same maps over and over and over.

Ah, look at you now! I still remember the days of you walking down the middle of the street with your huge, overcompensating gun. Things have changed.

That's a damn good score, especially on that map!

The score is a mixture of:
Just getting better at the game (thanks Hoos, Sponge, and everyone else who has helped)
Luck: the first six or so deaths were pretty much back-to-back -- spawn, get shot; spawn, start shooting, get shot in the back; spawn, get shottied by a Super Soldier, etc.
Killstreak rewards. This one played the biggest part. I got five legit gun kills, then a double with the Predator which unlocked the Harrier which got the next four needed to unlock the Chopper Gunner. While waiting for the Harrier to finish up I got killed. I then hid in that big bit of pipe and released the Chopper Gunner. I reckon in total I actually shot about 10 people. If you can just get the first five kills and then not miss with the Predator (I miss about 7/10 times), then the game gets the high kill count for you.
That said, I managed 24 for 9 on Afghan with my UMP class. After watching Redham's Raffica + C4 video I switched my runner class from Semtex to C4. I have to say, I have underestimated the versatility of C4. I just need to learn how to throw it through upstairs windows: the number of times I have stuck it to the outside of the building
Finally, I had a miserable time on Derail. I got killed 14 times and of those 14 I think 12 were from grenade launchers. I tried PE's Noob Vengeance class but didn't do too well with it. I'm so not used to using grenade launchers myself that I carried on with the normal assault rifle play style despite only having launchers at my disposal.
That said, I still mostly enjoy the game. For me it's now about trying to learn different tactics for different situations. I don't mind getting kileld by the same guy in the same spot four times in a row if I can at least work out a good way to make sure it isn't five times. I try different entry points, different weapons, etc. It's about developing strategies for different scenarios. Hmmmm.... I see a video tutorial franchise possibility here...

I'm slowly getting better too. Finally managed to string together a kill streak. TDM in rundown died twice in quickly at the beginning of the game, then found a nice little sniper spot and settled myself down with a big flask of coffee and a sandwich. Well, if you're going to camp, at least do it in comfort. 20 poor souls entered my cross hairs, 20 souls dispatched to whatever they believe represents the afterlife. Got another 7 with kill streaks (6 from an attack helicopter and 1 from a sentry gun set up to cover my butt. Happy little camper
I'm confused by the negativity towards this game, yes the UGLs are completely abused by some, I have no idea what these 'Super Soldiers' are but they sound like a pain too. But every game has its bits that would be better taken out, and MW2 is no different, but for a new game, people seem less tolerant of the nOOb bits. Is this just because it's a cumulative effect and MW2 is bearing the brunt of built up frustrations?
Can't wait for the map packs, anything which makes Rust appear less often is a bonus to me!

Super Soldier: Usually (P1) Marathon or Sleight of Hand, (P2) Lightweight, (P3) Commando with Akimbo 1887s. They are the guys who run around at lightspeed knifing everybody.
Funny (but very fruity language):

Don't forget the Tactical Knife kind. Marathon, Lightweight, Commando Same setup, but with a handgun w/ Tac knife instead of shottys. Can be just as devastating in confined spaces, or equally bad in ambushes by corner camping.
I still say they could fix a lot of problems by just switching the Perk sets a bit. Let Lightweight and OMA change places. With Marathon and Lightweight in the same set you could either run fast OR run forever, but not both. With OMA and Danger Close in the same set you'd still have the infi'nade problem, but at least they wouldn't have a ridiculous kill range.

You get my vote! Sounds like a sensible plan. I use marathon and lighweight so I guess I'm making enemies without realising Good job I'm rubbish so I can't upset too many.
OMA and Danger Close are definately a bad combo. I didn't really see it before it was pointed out to me. It was only then I listened out for the pop of UGLs and realised there were a hell of a lot going off considering you only get two per life. On one recent game the popping was almost continuos!
To my embarasment I didn't even realise you could swap classes back to your OMA class, I thought you had to select a different one. Perhaps that could be an idea. Only one OMA class allowed and you can't select it when changing class?

You're not doing anything wrong necessarily. It's only really cheap in combination with things that get you one hit kills at close range, which you're always at 'cause you're so darn fast.
That's a good idea too. I always thought it should be switched to make it so that OMA just let you bring in a second Primary weapon, instead of letting you switch class. You're idea would certainly slow them down though.

Well, the US Pro players need 24 hours to learn all the best camping and noob tubing spots otherwise we might be able to beat them.

This game's beginning to freak me out. A few quick rounds this evening and I went 14 for 9, 15 for 10, etc. My worst ratio was a 1.0 (14 for 14). And that's on Underpass and Rust. It seems Marathon + UMP + Stopping Power was the class I have been looking for all along.
A word to the wise though: do not, I repeat DO NOT, attach the thermal sight to the UMP. Unless you want to die a lot.
