Well, they've implemented more levels... all the way up to 80.

To be honest, this really pisses me off. I was relatively close to maxing my level out, and now I find out I can look forward to another 20 levels after 60. I'm not sure I have the time, energy, skill, or patience to do that.

They are determined by money earned. I'm seeing 77 million as 61 on the ND forums, and 94 as 62.

It's interesting, not sure how I feel about it quite yet. Arne says another internal miscommunication caused it to go live this morning. There's something hinted at next weekend, but it's unclear what that surprise is. Arne's timeline indicates it was the cap update, but people are speculating a new map, based on a "typo" in the Lab update. They're saying Warzone is an old dev name for Plaza, I'm inclined to think it was just the cap update.

Time to figure out my boosters, not sure if I want Glass/Half, or Situational and Come Get Some. I missed you, Badges of Honor.

Well I have to agree with you Endlo, at first my reaction was....well, inappropriate, as was the case on many posts on the ND forum. However people need to realize that the players that do have the money for level 80 are being recognized for their level of appreciation for the game. Some people threatened to leave UNCHARTED 2 because of this change, I mean come on man, just because there is the opportunity to raise you rank and gain MORE recognition you want to leave a great game? I for one feel that it adds another layer to an otherwise perfect multiplayer. ND did a great job considering this is their first multiplayer game and they deserve credit for listening to their fans and trying their best to fix our complaints, besides Situational Awareness. I came to U2 during 1.06 so I don't know what U2 was like in it's "hayday" but I have had more fun in this game than I have ever had on any other, now that's a testimony ND should be proud of. In short the level cap being moved to 80 just ADDS to the game, oh and you'll all probably be surprised by this.

I personally think this is a little unessecary. I mean, wasn't level 60 enough? This just seems... well, over the top.

So does the allmighty X still hold it's value? Not really. Something that so many of us wanted to achieve is just another level towards the allmighty... what, XXX?!

I think I agree with you Charlitos, I know ND is trying to keep things new and fresh, but I was always a bit of a completionist, and I KNOW I'll never reach level 80. I don't have the time nor the patience.

I don't see what people are complaining about. There are plenty of level 60's who have played for hundreds of millions more over the level 60 cap with no complaint that they get nothing besides enjoyment. Naughty Dog gives us a reason to play past 60 and suddenly people are going off? They took nothing away. Getting to 60 is still an achievement.

All I see is a bunch of people complaining that they've been given a reason to play more. I don't know about anyone else, but I play the game because I enjoy it, not because I care about getting to a specific rank. This doesn't change that in any way.

If you're playing solely to get to 60 so you can get rid of the game, then you're not playing it right. If 60 is just a milestone you want to achieve while enjoying the game, then awesome. Nothing changes in a negative way. 60 is still a long, hard achievement in itself. This should not detract from getting to 60; it should make you want to hit 60 more, if anything.

I'm not entirely sure I'll run any BOHs now that I know I'll never be hitting the maximum level. I might as well enjoy myself, right?

Vash, I enjoy the game, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't be playing a game I don't enjoy. It's just that when you get that X, you are considered among the top players (I mean, seriously, anyone who isn't an X, isn't it intimidating to see one on the other team?) and I'm sure it's an awesome feeling. Now it's just another stepping stone towards a higher level, as opposed to being the gold at the end of the rainbow, so to speak.

And on a similar topic, are there new boosters from 60-80?

I'm with Vash on this. Absolutely nothing has changed. The milestones are no different, and getting to X is no less of an accomplishment.

I have even more reason to play again. I have a new goal to shoot for, and it does little to change how much I enjoy this game.


The new 70 and 80 Badges look awesome. I'm not sure on the skins yet, I'll have to earn them and go from there.
ND has also raised the cash cap per game, to 75k. That's really awesome, and it's nice to get that little extra from doubling up on Badges of Honor.

Raist, I feel ya. I got to the same point with Resistance, I think I'm getting there with Uncharted 2 (even though I haven't even played nearly enough as you ) and I'm getting to the point where I want to try other games that I've missed, because I spent so much time on this one.

I dunno, I'll pop the game back in and see how I feel then. I'm excited to see what the new badges look like. I know nothing has changed in terms of the X technically, but it's the mentality of things. Having an X before seemed so cool, but it's not now since theres so many level above it.

I dunno, just the way I think of it.

Great for you if you want to play through to it, enjoy. I just reallly don't want to have to deal with so much crap of getting to let alone level 60. I just don't want to feel like I have to play this game because that is how I always feel. I set a goal to reach 60 by the end of June. Would have gotten it dam tonight, but they raised the levels. I just don't want to stress myself out, ND was desperate for getting people to play the game more, but they totally ruined my experience.

EDIT: Good news every body, cash cap is now 75,000 and sniper elimination is now just that, SNIPER RIFLE elimination, no pistoles.

That's why I quit while I still enjoy the game for the most part. I quit before I'm so sick of it I can't bear to pick it up again, and then when I do pick it up for whatever reason it's refreshing.

No one is forcing you to play the game. If you've had enough, put it down for awhile. Play something else for a bit. Don't ruin a game you enjoy by playing it too much. You can always come back to it.

Goodly news everyone. Level 60? Check! Now Where's my Damn CookieCake. (Mod Edit For Copywright ) This is how it happened. Party of 5, and then a 3 on 3 deathmatch. Split up in a birthday, just wonderful. Second, I thought that I needed 42 thousand to get there, because I wasn't planning on achieving it tonight, since I wanted certain people to be there. Got 7 kills (intentionally) and surprise surprise! As I see my earnings go up a terrible, unplanned black X appears on my screen. I automatically leave, buy Skelzor (can't get doughnut drake because of the world cup stuff) then join 2 deathmatches, and leave them both. On record I am a level 59. Sometime Sunday I will be getting the level 60 the way that I want it. No offence to the people that were there, I want fireworks and stuffs

Uncharted is still really the only game I play. I might try out SSF4 or the new BlazBlue, but really, the brunt of my focus is still here. I had a few ways of refreshing that, trying new boosters, trying to expand my style, and what not, but really, after X, what's to chase? A higher KD, and not much else.

This gives me another set of goals and accomplishments, and I'm okay with that. I'm of the mindset that my achievement of X isn't invalidated or cheapened, I just get to go even higher. That being said, I do wish we'd get some new stuff. New Badges would be awesome, and would make going back to them a little more exciting. Two skins, 150 million apart is kinda meh.

I think a lot of the Uncharted community got lost in the grind. At the end of the day, you should be playing because you enjoy the game, or the people around you, in-game. Don't let the quest for a numeral destroy your enjoyment, it really isn't that necessary. It shouldn't be the reason you sign in, nor should it affect the game in your eyes enough to quit.

For me, this whole level cap raise and whatever to come along with it doesn't concern me at all.
When I started gaming at the age of 4, I never bothered about getting the highest score, reaching a certain level in RPG's etc.

People are free to have these "status" goals to play games, but I feel kind of sorry for some of my friends who ONLY play games for trophies and such.

When I was 7, I saw my older neighbor absolutely destroying EVERYONE at Street Fighter II, and from that day on I had 2 goals when gaming;

1. Have fun
2. Get as good as I can get at the game, to let the controls become a natural part of you


I'll never really start working for levels, it's more important what I learn on my way to the X than to actually reach the X.
That's why I use the BoH's; not to get more money, but to help me push myself getting better.


Congrats to the X, Charlitos, even though you don't seem to appreciate it that much now with the level raise cap.

Double Negatives treated me fairly decent tonight. Warmed up with Glass Jaw for a good couple matches with Vash. Then everyone started joining so Unfortunately I had to go. I was just sick of the crazy invitation amounts coming through so I just went solo with the double negs. Glass Jaw + Half Loaded = maxxed out at 75,000 3 times before heading to bed. It gives someone something to aim for I guess. But seriously....15 Million between these new levels is just over the top IMO.

I can give negatives a big kiss goodby when I rereach my 60 I have used DOUBLE negs since level 54 and I am done

Heheh. yeah. Its been awhile since I used negs. I forgot that feeling of accomplishment one gets by leading the match in kills while using a disadvantage Forgot to mention I hit 61 last night so....yeah. Not cool seeing that green circle go away....

I'm about halfway to 61, I'm not looking forward to two more sets of pink badges. It's weird going back to negatives, I'm not sure which I want to run.
