Thats actually one of two ways.
The + and - add or remove reputation points. A tally separate from actual points or post count.

Do not back seat mod and try to control the situation yourself. This too can be looked upon as trolling. The moderators of this forum have been doing this a while and are good at what they do. At the same time, no one person can be in every topic at all times. Do your part to help keep the community a positive environment.
