Was...was that guy unarmed fighting a Deathclaw? Hit level 30 day before yesterday, and haven't gotten to play much since. Had to go back to Cape this morning. Worked out okay as I got a couple books I'd been looking for. Finished Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout. Got the sidequests and trophies for those. Woot. Decided to take Almost Perfect at level 30 for the heck of it even though I already had good stats. There's just not enough really good perks. I mean, most of the ones you can get are very useful, but none let you just really own. And I understand that if they give you the pwning powers, then the game becomes a lot less fun eventually. The difference between killing a Super Mutant Overlord with an assault rifle and killing it with the Alien Blaster. The former is frantic dodging about, trying to line up a good shot, because if you stand still for VATS it'll knock the crap outta you. For the latter it's, "Oh, look. I just two shot crit'd it to death. Yay." I wouldn't want the game to be just a pushover like that. (Note that I do have the Alien Blaster, but it's a weapon of last resort. "I'm out of ammo, my weapon's broken, I'm low on Stimpacks, and you're still at half health.... Alright, we'll call it a draw. Pew pew pew.") I wouldn't want perks that did that, but I wouldn't mind a few more of the "increased damage to X creature type" perks. There were more, but they took them out before finalizing. Funny glitch. Was taking Sydney to turn in the Stealing Independence quest. Go into Rivet City, and suddenly her hair disappears. G.I. Jane lookin'. lol Once she left that section it came back though.

Is this the place to talk about New Vegas? Or should we start a new thread?

In that case, is anyone else REALLY excited about Hardcore mode?

- The Hardcore Mode is optional, but allows for a more intense game experience. Combat is more difficult in this mode, and stimpacks heal over time instead of instantly. The ammo you carry has weight and can affect your performance, and you can die of dehydration, so its important to carry a well-filled canteen.
I'll certainly give it a try. I'm not the type to only play on easy or anything, but I am glad that it's optional. Sometimes I just want to play, not micromanage. I recall being really annoyed at Dark Cloud because you could only explore the levels as long as you stayed hydrated. Later on it wasn't a problem, but early in it made the game a pain. |

For me, Hardcore mode will add a whole other layer of immersion, intensity, and difficulty. I've played through fallout once and become a master looter; now I'll actually have use for half the crap that I find.

Oh, it was, I assure you. What's not funny is the way the game keep freezing on me. Trying to get through the Pitt right now and I can't get anywhere without it locking up. Grrr. I guess that empty or no, I've just left too many bodies lying around. Imma give it another try tomorrow. I'll certainly try Hardcore mode, and let's face it, if there's a trophy involved, then I'll end up doing it.

So I walked into my Tenpenny Tower Suite the other day, and MR BURKE AND MY ROBOT BUTLER WERE SHOOTING EACH OTHER! Mr Burke killed my butler and then when I talked to him, all he could say was, "Great job out there. Absolutely amazing job." I was all like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU and then blew him up with a Fat Man, killing myself and then when my game loaded up again, it happened over... and over... and over. So the moral of the story? Mr Burke is a robot-discriminating son of a who doesn't deserve any cake. In other news, I am 2 trophies away from getting my plat! Finally!
