| So today I went out and bough Pokemon Heart Gold. Since the game gives you a Friend Code to register on the "Pal Pad", (which is basically your friends roster in HG/SS) I thought it would be a good idea to make this thread so all Pokemon trainers here in the nation can find each other on the DS titles to trade and battle and whatnot. I think that the best way to get this started would probably be just for everyone to post their friend codes in the game up on here. Also feel free to post what version(s) you have and/or are playing, and any specific Pokemon that you're looking for. I'll update the OP when I get on and play tomorrow and find out what my friend code is. Hope to see some of you out there in Pokemon world!
**EDIT**
Okay, for everyone with HG or SS here's my friend code: 0002 6138 5443 |

| Could an admin please lock and/or delete this thread? Nobody seems interested and I figure after about 2 months someone who's interested would have found this thread by now. |

| I'm actually in the middle of Platinum right at the moment. I'm not sure how to get the DSi online, so I don't know what all I could help anyone with. But I'll be happy to contribute to any discussion I can. |

| I know that in Heart Gold there's a Nintendo WFC connection setting on the main menu where you set up your Wi-Fi connection. There should be one for Platinum as well. |

| It's not the game that gives me trouble, it's the system. No idea why, but even following the instructions to the letter, I can't get it to find my wireless network. |

Heh, I'm sorry I didn't see it before. I would have posted in here if I knew. Kind of gave up on my Mareep hunt and am now going for Tentacool. Also, if anyone happens to have a spare Thunderstone, could I have it? |

| After an hour of fiddling with the darn thing I've come to the conclusions that my inability to take the DSi online is because of my ISP. No online goodness for me. I would be interested in hearing what you guys think about some stuff. My only goal is to complete the game, seeing as I can't do half the things to complete the pokedex. (ie, trading to get evolutions, or using the backwards compatibility thing as the DSi has no slots for GBA games) So, with that in mind, what kind of team would you suggest? What kinds do you all use? |

I prefer to use various types, but my current team consists of: Lv 81 Deoxys Lv 100 Dragonite (IVe had this one for about 6-7 years) Lv 100 Palkia Lv 100 Giratina Lv 100 Empoleon Lv 100 Mewtwo |

| Windstream. I did a lot of digging yesterday, watch tutorial vids, think I tried every which way to get this working. If someone could put down the steps for me here, I'd try again. Got it working now! Now I'll work on finding a friend code. Is is specific to each game, or is it by system? EDIT AGAIN: Well, it'll get online. But it won't allow me to do it in game. I go to Nintendo WFC setting on the main menu. Then select Nintendo Wi-fi Connection Settings. It only gives me access to the first three profiles, and the one I had that worked was on the fourth. I try to search for an access point and find my network. I succeed. but when I select it, it says 'this access point's security settings are not supported by the DS.' Apparently, the problem is that I don't use whatever WEP is. I use something else. So, the net works fine. It just won't let me do in game stuff. I plan to pick up the Giritina as well as the other Legendaries. Currently using: Infernape Gyrados Staraptor Steelix Luxray Sixth slot is variable. Right now there's an egg in there, but I usually have a Roserade. I plan to upgrade throughout the rest of the game, of course. I gotta say, I was glad to get the Steelix. Not because it's that great, but just because it was always very annoying that it was one you could only get through trade. Which is something I couldn't ever do. Doubt I'll be finding the others in the wild though. Alakazam, Magmar, etc. Which form of Deoxys do you use? And where'd you get it? I read it was really hard to get. Only from special events and such, or Japan only. |

| Friend Codes are specific to each game.
Hmm...that's an interesting problem. By profiles, what do you mean?
I don't know if you've found a Dratini or not, but if you do, catch it and train the crap out of it. It may take you until Lv 50 to get a Dragonite, but it is by all means worth the patience. If you get one, your team will be that much stronger. My old veteran Dragonite is simply a beast and I am extremely glad my friend kept him when I took a...break from pokemon. (Let's just say I sold all of my pokemon games for a couple of years. I lost several Lv 100s and a very cool shiny Beedrill.) I was fortunate that I traded the Dragonite to him just before I did that.
As for Deoxys, mine is currently in it's Normal form. However, I can change it any time I want by going to certain parts of the game. It is indeed a very rare legendary, and it can only be gotten at certain events. To my knowledge, the last one that happened in America was at GameStop back in 2008 (Where I got mine).
Hope you get the Wifi thing sorted out soon. I also am trying to complete the pokedex. After 230 or so hours, I am currently at 428/493. Hard to believe how close I am... |

Hmm...that's an interesting problem. By profiles, what do you mean? When I go to the System Settings menu, select Internet, select Connection Settings, it gives me the following: Connection 1 Connection 2 Connection 3 Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector Advanced Setup. If I select Connection 1 and then "Search for an Access Point," it finds my network. But when I select it, it says, "Unable to connect to this access point using current settings. To connect to this access point, use Advanced Setup." So, I go back to the previous screen and select Advanced Setup. There it gives me the option of Connection 4, 5, and 6. I have this one setup right and am allowed to use the internet from the DS with it. However, on the top screen it warns, "Allows use of high-security proxy settings. Cannot be used with Nintendo DS-compatible functions." The security I have selected is WPA2-PSK(AES) I know what none of those letters mean. Now, when I go to start up Platinum, I select Nintendo WFC Settings, then Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings. It only displays Connection 1, 2, and 3. I select connection 1 and Search for an Access Point. It says "The access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS." So, I select the other option, Manual Setup. I can enter my SSID just the same, but the next part is where it gets stuck. It wants a WEP Key. Whatever that stands for, it's different than my WPA2-PSK(AES) and that's the problem. The only thing I can think is to try to go somewhere that has an unsecured WEP and use that. The problem is, I live in the middle of nowhere. We don't have internet cafes and the like. Since Friend Codes are specific to a game, does that mean we couldn't trade or fight since I'm on Platinum and you're on Pearl? |

| What is the exact error code you are recieving? (Ex: Error 53000)
And we would be able to trade and fight, do not worry about that. I'm just saying that there is a different friend code for every DS game. (My FC for Silver and Pearl are different, but I can still trade between the two). |

| WEP Keys are "kind of" like firewalls that block certain devices from using your connection. This is, of course, for security reasons. I'd try connecting without setting it to a WEP key. Try to keep that slot empty.
Good trade/match last night Street. Even though I was on the verge of winning, the fact that you pushed my team of 3 to the limit was kind of surprising. Would have been interesting to see how Palkia would have done though. Grats on beating the Elite Four too! |

| You need the WEP Key to the wireless router access point... Unless I am missing something completely here. |

| I believe you're right, Liam. It does allow me leave that slot blank, but then I can't access it. What I think is happening, if I understand everything I've dug up okay, is that my router's protection is WPA2, and any DS connection for Nintendo games specifically requires a WEP security type. I could change my security, but not only do I not know how, but I wouldn't try for fear I would mess up the way my friend set it all up. Now, it turns out some neighbors nearby use an unsecured connection, but to access it I'd have to stand in the middle of the street and steal their internet, neither of which am I inclined to do. lol However, after a bit more digging it turns out that there is a place or two in town that does free Wi-Fi. One of those might work. I have to take my Grandma to a doctor's appointment today, so I likely won't get the chance to do that today. Might be something I can try another time. |
