PostSubject: Re: Uncharted2: Among Thieves   Uncharted2: Among Thieves - Page 23 EmptyMon Jun 28, 2010 4:24 am

Man, the trashtalk is getting a bit unreal, lately. It's like, if I run my positives, I'll get whined at because I have two positives on, but if I run my negatives and still do well, I still get yelled at, and trashtalked to. There's really no way to win, other than to just ignore it, and win the match, and move on. So annoying. The hatemail still makes me laugh, but I can't stand getting trashtalked in game, it's just so pointless. Like that guy we played earlier, as a group, who decided we were so bad he just needed to quit out, I guess. Bleh.

I'm still torn on my booster selection. I hate having to go back to negatives, partially because I miss Rapid Hands and Fleet Foot, but I do enjoy having to play with them again, because I have to play more intelligently again, to do well. I'm still making some stupid mistakes, but I hope within the next day or two, I can finalize on a set-up, and start to roll with it, and learn it again. I'm torn on Glass/Half, Situational/Come Get Some, or just running Glass Jaw or Half Loaded.

I do enjoy Situational and Come Get Some, it lets you do some really cool things, but it's a really odd booster set-up. Plus side is hearing the rage over Situational, in encounters where it was totally irrelevant. Hell, half the time I forget to Sitch anyway, or am just camping out in a spot where it's completely unnecessary.

Not sure what I want to do yet. I keep bouncing around, and it's hard to stay consistent. I'm still doing well overall, got a few Furies tonight, but it's still so hit or miss sometimes, that I can't help but be frustrated. Nature of having to re-learn Badges, I guess.

I wish I could be like Mario, he runs Invalid and Come Get Some and still just dominates. It's insane. I still don't understand how he can do it, but man, he makes it work somehow.

Yeah, finding boosters that work for you can be really tough.
I'm using invalid+half-loaded at the moment, and when I first started out it was hellish, mainly because I was so used to run'n'gun without thinking.

I think I am getting my style together more now, just played plunder @ Village, ended 31-12 and scored 1 (we lost 2-3).
Hopefully it gets better from there Very Happy= :D

PostSubject: Re: Uncharted2: Among Thieves   Uncharted2: Among Thieves - Page 23 EmptyMon Jun 28, 2010 11:45 am

Uncharted 2 has some new skins, in celebration of the World Cup, of all the teams that made the second round, for players to show support for their teams.

Aquaknux and I have been rooting for Argentina, and Prizma has been rooting for Germany. I've been rocking Germany a bit, to show some support, aside from my usual jersey, but when I switched back, I was questioned. That was my response.

My heritage is Polish, and my family came to America right around the time of the Holocaust, as tensions were increasing, to avoid the obvious. I later admitted that I suppose I should stop holding a grudge, and went back to rocking the Germany jersey for Prizma.

Way to go, Reo! I'm still trying to find my style a bit, and I've been pretty inconsistent with my boosters, just trying to test stuff out again, and see what I'd like to run. Glass/Half wasn't too bad, so I'm considering it, as well as Rapid Hands and Come Get Some, or Situational and Come Get Some.

Congrats again on the X, Charlitos. It was nice being there for the real thing this time, as well. Too bad we won't be able to rock the Fat Man together for a few more weeks. Here's to hoping your arm is feeling better, you'll probably need it for your basketball camp.

Glad to hear your arm is feeling better, be sure to rest up though, and feel better soon.

The more I play, the more I'm glad that they increased the level cap. I know it's a bit of a hit or miss issue, but even looking back on the last page, the conversation it's sparked has been impressive. I have to think about my play, because of my negatives, and my desire to improve, as well as to hit those goals, in the higher levels, and I haven't really had to do that, or felt the need to do that, for a while. It's refreshing, and although I'm starting to become frustrated with the higher level community that I'm interacting with, I have to take it with a grain of salt. These people would trashtalk regardless of what color their badge was, or what level they are, or regardless of how well they might actually do. Everything you do is going to be scrutinized, and they're just having a bad game, or you're being cheap. So goes it, I guess.

I'm actually enjoying getting the hatemail though. Knowing that I apparently bothered someone enough, somehow, by playing the game, or sticking up for my guys, for them to have to write me a message, or messages, telling me how garbage I am, and how awful I am, makes me smile. It just re-affirms the fact that I must be doing something right. I'm not playing quite as well, because I'm having to readjust to the negatives, but I've typically gone positive, if not very positive, and I stand to only keep getting better again. It's nice to have to move, so to speak, after feeling stuck in a rut, for a while. You feel like you plateau a bit, and then you're forced to readjust, and grow some more.

I'm also not sure how I want to start interacting with the other Uncharted communities, quite yet. Looking at the ND forums, it's an odd environment, I get the feeling that it's really like any "official" forum. There's an incredibly vocal minority, who hate everything ND does to try to fix or improve this game, the people dedicated to trolling them, and a few genuinely good posters, who are trying to bring some reason and debate some of the topics well. I'm going to start heading over there and posting soon, within the next night or two though, and I encourage everyone else to at least check it out. The more we can interact within a community, and show them that we have something to offer, the better, and maybe we can offer them the possibility of something they'd like to be a part of, here at the Nation. I'm not saying to go over there, and try to recruit people to the site directly, I think there's a bit of subtlety and tact called for, but if we can head over there, and be productive members, and show everyone what we have to offer here, of course we'll get a few curious onlookers.

I'm not sure on the "recruiting" thread protocol over there, I've seen a few tossed out in the general multiplayer section, and that might really be it. I haven't noticed any kind of subforum for recruiting, or clan-based discussions.

I haven't checked on the official Sony boards for Uncharted for a while, I'm not sure if they're even still active. I'll have to check it out tonight, or tomorrow, and see what's going on. I started over there, though, and it wasn't really anything notable, a lot of trolling and flaming, and the usual 1.04 crowd. Maybe having to split between two communities has done it some good, and it's gotten a little bit better.

I've been visiting the ND forums for quite a while now, so I can relate to the things you mention, Endlo.
There is a majority of people who whines over the changes, you'll see like 10 new topics every day about complaints, more than less it's about SA, lag and whatnot....

You'll probably also notice "groups" in their community; the "legends" with high K/D and their fanboys, normal groups of friends who enoy the game for what it is, ND fanboys, ND haters (1.04 people) and so on.
But no doubt there are some very friendly guys that I sure wouldn't mind over here.
I've just got the impression that most guys over there are so obsesed with who has the better K/D. facepalm2

Good luck though, child! I shall watch from my creepy little cave Laughing

I find the ND forums okay, but not great. The equivalent of the "Post Title" you see here really bugs me over there, as you either have to fill it in manually or let it put as much of your post in it as it can.

In terms of KDR, I'm happy if it's around 1.00. Sure I'm happy when it's higher, but it's nothing to get obsessed over.

While I am a member there, I havent gotten to the same interaction level as I did with myres. I have some posts there but overally I was spreading myself thin with activity here, gametrailers and ND.com as well. But anyone who wants to extend out is awesome. PLay by their rules though and if you find a cool way to let people know about the great people here, let them know. Sigs and banners etc are usually permitted almost everywhere Smile

PostSubject: Re: Uncharted2: Among Thieves   Uncharted2: Among Thieves - Page 23 EmptyMon Jun 28, 2010 11:31 pm

Yup. If you had somehow missed it, ND has also extended the level cap, beyond 60. Each level up is 15 million, and it goes all the way up to 80, now. The only current rewards are two skins taken from Uncharted 1, Blaine and Dutch, for level 70 and 80. There are vague hints at further rewards, but any information is a rumor at this point, and the only indicator was a post from arne stating ND wished to reward players who achieve those levels, but wouldn't say how.

It's been an interesting day for Uncharted. Apparently there's a new way to glitch through the pillars of The Fort. We played an elimination today where two of them kept trying it, one was successful. One achieved a stunning 0-3, falling through the map every time, and the other, who successfully tried it, went 0-3, unable to get a kill in any of the rounds. It was bizzare, yet oddly impressive. You can shoot across the entire map, through any surface, and are impervious, yet you still cannnot achieve success. Go figure.

The trashtalk continues, and I can only really blame our levels. It seems to just set people off, and there's nothing one can do about it. Negatives or not, you're just a complete lightningrod for abuse, because we've achieved high numerals, or gotten to X. I don't understand why this seems to have come about so suddenly, it might be some kind of lash out at the level cap increase, but it really makes no sense even then. Played some good games though, I think the best so far today was a 13-1 on Lost City with Glass/Half.

It's teaching me to be more resourceful, I have to use all the tools available to me on the map, and in my situation, to succeed, and it's keeping me from wanting to charge into bad situations. I'm having to moderate myself much more effectively now, and go back to my slightly campier style. I may not get as many kills as some of you guys, but I do well enough for myself, and I need to stop trying to push a style that just doesn't fit with me. It led to me getting overly frustrated, and making bad decisions, both of which compounded the other, to make the frustrations even worse. I'm using both long-gun and hand-gun a lot more, and the increased focus on accuracy is pretty helpful, as well.

I'm learning how to burst more effectively with my AKs, which wasn't something I was awful at, but it was also never something I'd developed to the point of some of you other guys. My accuracy with it was good enough to get by, by hardly enough to succeed consistently. That's why I rail on the poor gun so hard, I just don't get nearly the same success, even at close range with it, as I do the FAL.

Is anybody down to do some Co-Op soon? I'm trying to help Charlitos get his trophies done for it. We need to get through Sanctuary on Hard, and all of the maps on Crushing, as far as I'm aware. We tried Sanctuary tonight, but ended up dying at the last section.
We'll get it though, Charlitos, don't worry!

Good games this morning, Vash & Endlo.
Daaaamn, you guys are more beast than I remembered, haha.

Funniest moment for me was at the fort.
I grabbed the RPG, saw you guys shooting away at one of the stairs, when I got closer, all I heard was "Lets go, bitches!"
When I hit him with the RPG and he just went quiet, that was classic, I couldn't stop laughing.

Well then.

Yeah, Reo, those games were a ton of fun. That poor guy was just so angry, I'm not quite sure why. That RPG was perfect though, we were just hanging out, trying to bait him into messing up, and here comes Reo, to ruin the poor guy's day.

I was really inconsistent last night. I was rotating my boosters all night, trying to find a set-up I like, and I think I'm going to settle on Glass Jaw/Fleet Foot. I've been killing myself with Glass/Half, and as soon as I went back to Fleet, and had that speed and full clip again, I went 16-1, 13-3, 16-0. That 16-0 game was beautiful, I was working so hard on a Rampant, and I'm sure it would've happened, but someone quit out after a perfect grenade, and ended the game.

I was in my usual spot, by the blue grenade house, and working stuff over. I see the guy trying to weave through the cover and come into the house. I fire a few shots at him, he stands right outside the doorway, so I throw a grenade right into that corner, right outside the door. He bails, heading over to the window in the front of the house. I throw it right against the side of the opening, it hits the corner of the window, and rolls out, and lands right on top of him. It was beautiful.

That game also marked my first The Long Ranger on Plaza. I was so happy, that's my favorite medal.

Yeah, defeating evil wizards usually takes around 2 weeks, first you have to take off your clothes and do dirty stuff just to get your twin back.
The other 13 days is spent crying on the bathroom floor while your twin is giving you a sponge bath...... Stay strong, child! Uncharted2: Among Thieves - Page 23 915210

Endlo, I've notice that too, I really miss FF, I feel so slow using half-loaded instead.
Oh well, only 2 levels left until glass jaw, then I'll probably be using that with FF for a while.
I really hope we'll get a double cash this weekend, hopefully with a higher money cap than before.

I never strafe (make of that what you will) so FF has always been relatively useless to me.

At the moment, I'm running Invalid and Half-Loaded. What's weird is that when I switched to Situational for a match after getting fed up with half health (I had just gotten thoroughly owned the match before), I (1) was not used to SA, so I didn't/couldn't make full use of it and (2) found myself in situations where I would've gotten killed whether I had half health or not. My performance was the same or even worse when I didn't use Invalid. Thinking
