I've actually played with and against many of the top slot hot shots.
The ones who truly stood out as skilled in my eyes were tripleWRECK and Dai-A667.

Many others seemed skilled but then you see why they have such a great KD: lag-switching, glitching, camping with SA while whoring the power weapons (slot 2 booster is usually Launchman or Rocketman) while having their team watch their back and some other "cheap" stuff.

Let me just point out that some players have seemed awesome while playing with their clan/team but when facing them without their guys to back them up, thats a completely different story.
I don't mean to brag, but I've made some of these guys rage quit and send me a lot of mails and challenges to 1v1's just because they feel the need to save some "honor".


Tomorrow I was thinking of arranging a small workshop session, just to see how it goes.
If anyone at all is interested in participating, let me know so I don't get online for nothing, haha.

I was thinking about going through some tactics/strategies and how to manipulate certain situations to your advantage.
It would be nice if we could work a bit on teamwork and how to flank and control certain areas too.

You might be able to plug some headphones into your TV, Fawlty, it should allow you to hear what goes on and your gf can have some nice peace and quiet that some people require to study

Again, what suggestions do people have about getting a headset? I was thinking about just getting the PS3 bluetooth mic, but does anyone recommend anything else/better?

Thats what I did now that I have moved and I actually got to experience the awesome sound effects so much more, haha.
It's sad that my headphones provide awesome sound while my TV is more or less mediocre on that front.
Playing the Dead Space 2 demo with headphones and the lights out was just golden.

I use the official bluetooth HS from Sony, Fawlty.

Neither can I, its easy to hear you, some people its like "what did you say?" because they either have something wrong with their mic, the game is too loud, or they are speaking too softly, I think I might try to get back to U2 tonight, I've been taking a break with Sly but I might try to get some games in tonight, I can guarantee being back to U2 by next week

Looks like the official headset from Sony is a good choice then. Pretty cheap too I think.

I haven't checked the price for headsets, need to get my parents permission first since I don't have a credit card

I was also looking at some lower priced Turtle beach headsets (wired of course) however I dunno if I'm that hardcore of a gamer yet! Anyone have any experience with these?

I have the PX21's here.. Very good headset, nice long USB lead and you get out of all that charging thing, plus you can use it for PC and Xbox too.

The first set I had unfortunately broke at the swivel joint and I had to get them changed, but it may just be a one-off.

When it comes to the first Uncharted, Fawlty, you will find the controls to be very different, its a good game but it is MUCH harder than U2 is, but if you are going to play it just to play it go ahead, its a fun game either way, I remember playing in the sub base level, I was in a non-stop curse fest the entire time!

I really need to get a headset, how many times have I said this? 500 million? Oh well, I can get one in a year and a half or just bring some cash with me next time my family goes to BestBuy and get a headset there, w/e its more of a want than a need lol

Whatever you do, if you have a bunch of people in your background, don't get my headset (the one that came with the Warhawk bundle).

Not at all related to U2, although it is mic-related.

It was one particular Saturday and the old gang was playing some R2 Superhuman co-op. My rather noisy family was for the most part keeping quiet so I had my mic on at the time. Chat audio comes out of the TV speakers so everyone can hear (mostly me 'cause I don't like it coming out of the mic speaker).

Today though, is different. Today is the day when my mum has finally been able to convince Dad to go shopping... for clothes. She doesn't really want to go but if she doesn't he won't. He REALLY doesn't want to go.

*Me and my friends are shooting them bad Chimera.*
*Conversation between Mum and Dad in the background. He's in another room, probably over five metres away.*

Actually there was a pretty funny U2 moment back when everyone could get online... This must have been pre-downlodable skins.

There was a party of four of us rockin' some competitive (I think it was me, Sage, Solar and Ferg). I had Elena because I think Cloe is ugly and Elena was the only other girl available. So away we go. Dad decides to walk into the room, investigate, then heads off to the kitchen and observes from the ponyrail (which is quite a ways away from where I'm sitting).

Dad: Why on earth are you playing the blonde?
*Friend sniggers.
Me: 'Cause Chloe looks like she had her eyes punched out and she's the only other girl.
*Dad continues with blonde jokes, nothing really that serious. I also can't remember what he said because it was ages and ages ago...
*Friend continues to snigger after each comment.
Me: I'm going to come over there if you don't stop.

Funnies...

Anyways, so the moral of these stories and some mic buying advice:

If you know you're going to have a lot of background noises, make sure the mic doesn't pick them up so you're not embarrassed in front of your friends.
