So lately ive been going on an rpg stint and this month it has been Lord of the rings online. The name pretty much gives it away, its an MMORPG that takes place in middle earth. Its quite entertaining and the best part is... its free to download and play! Of course you do need to subscribe for 10 bucks a month to get eveything the game has to offer, BUT I personally have never subbed and it doesnt feel like your missing much. Anyways, on to the game. Its not smoothest of games, some animations arent that great/jumpy. Some of the quests have glitches and not all of middle earth is made yet (they are working on it though). Besides all this there is one main reason why people play this game... Roleplaying. It actually works in this game. For instance you never see people running around with silly names like XxBloodkillapsycopathmaniacxX or I_like_booty. You get names like Drogvar, Haukson Greene, Achyra, Thormir, Seresena etc. which is nice in my opinion. You also get an option to "wear" clothes over your armor. Basically you can mash together any armor that looks bad and you gain all those stats without seeing them, and have your actual set of clothes so it looks like you belong in the world. Very popular spots in the game are The Prancing Pony, where you'll always find people playing live music, and can roleplay your characters with other people. Another thing that works is crafting! Im not sure how but somehow they made it fun. I actually enjoy going in and smelting all my ore that I have mined out of rocks, smelting it into bars and plates, and creating armor for myself. The final reason is that its freaking Middle Earth haha. Albeit not all of it but hey riding into Bree on your horse, sitting down for a pint in The Prancing Pony and talking about your adventurers with other players is a pretty good way to kill some time in my opion
