I don't have the time to go into an in-depth guide, but here is a small "how to win at Uncharted 3" with some beginners tips.
BUDDY SYSTEM
Okay, so you most likely started a game with a buddy. What does this tell you? That's right, you should stick together and provide much needed assistance. I can't remember how many times I've seen clueless players get slaughtered in gunfights, simply because they got outnumbered. 2 guns shooting the same target will kill it twice as fast as one, granted that they both can aim Besides, if you follow your buddy, you can act as a surprise element and pick off rushers or campers. People will most likely be focused on the 1st object they see (your buddy), giving you a chance to pick them off without much effort.
WHERE TO GO?
Wow, these maps are freaking huge! Alot of new players have no idea where to go, yet they decide that it's best to go off on their own..... Many maps has so called "hot spots", where (generally) the majority of the action is going to take place. So what determines which places these are? There are some factors to consider here, but one general rule is - which area gives the team an advantage? Areas which provides a good view of the map and good coverage is one place, power weapon spawns is another. Keep a look for these areas as there is sure to be people here. If you are still unsure as to where to go, get yourself to higher grounds and scope out the ground for easy targets. But still, same as mentioned above - stick together, people.
Another thing to keep in mind is that people will most likely scan the OPEN areas when looking for other players, so avoid them as much as you can. Stay close to the walls of an area, you will automatically have one side covered if you do. Having a teammate covering another will give you 2 sides to keep an eye for. Kinda good deal if you ask me
I'M GETTING SHOT! WHAT DO I DO??!!
Okay, so it was kinda inevitable, wasn't it? Oh well, someone got the drop on you and if they hit you, keep in mind that it is not an even battle. Say you both had 100% health, chances are you might have 50-60% already and are at a huge disadvantage. What you should do first is to locate from which direction the shooting is coming and get to appropriate cover. This will allow you to regenerate your health and gives you a second or two to think out a plan and get a better view of what is happening. - How many opponents are there in your area? - Which weapon was used when fired? - How good/bad is your cover? These are just a few things to consider but granted, you DO have to fight back or go for an escape. A sitting duck is often a soon-to-be dead duck. If you are finding yourself in a 1v1, use the cover to your advantage and shoot back. You always want to turn the battle to your advantage. By going for cover, you have given yourself a decent "shield", so use it!
Remember that you don't have to attach yourself to a cover if it's a cover that let's you stand up. It is better if you just stand behind it so you can move faster away from it if you should need to. However, if there is a low cover, then you need to attach to it in order to conceal yourself. The whole point of cover is to be harder to see, which in turns makes you harder to kill.
So what if you have no cover nearby? Now you'll need to evaluate the situation. Do you have chance of fighting back and win? If you are facing one single guy and you feel confident, go for it. Granted, you will need to be able to move around while shooting or just have a much better aim than your nemesis. Combine the 2 and you will wreak havoc, my friend!
In order to give yourself time to locate the shooter, a trick is to roll left or right while turning the camera towards the shooter. Jumping works pretty good too. You can also sprint away if you don't want to stick around or if there is more than one opponent.
If you fight multiple guys, chances are you will get one of them at best. So you gave your team a point and gave the other one aswell. Back to square one. The first thing I tell guys who wants to improve their game is to stop going for kills. Start by learning how to keep yourself alive first, then you may go for kills. Using the guns is something you will get the hang of eventually, there aren't really any magic tricks to it more than that you should always burst fire for long distance battles. It's more or less a matter of being able to use cover and having a decent aim.
SOMEONE IS RUSHING AT ME AND HIPFIRING ME BACK TO THE RESPAWN SCREEN!
Yes, one of the most annoying aspects of the game so far. Grenades comes out so slow that you don't really have the time to even throw one for a trade-kill. Hipfiring back and hoing for a trade? Sure, it might work, but often it won't. So what do you do? I have so far discovered 2 pretty good tactics. 1. Jump away from the guy rushing at you and hipfire back. As soon as you land, aim at the guy, move BACK/AWAY from the sucker and unload on him/her. 2. Roll away and push to drop a small gift.
I KEEP GETTING BLOWN UP BY GRENADES!
You can try to roll/jump away from them, but don't forget that grenades have a small above them. Yes, you have that same symbol on your controller!! Push it, damn you! And live to fight another day!
These are just a few tricks'n'tips that should help you improve in the world of Uncharted 3.
I played some more today and got these 2 vids for you guys. Hope you enjoy them and please comment:
Wow great tips Reo! I hate to say it but I do a lot of stupid things on your don't do list. I think this will help me out a lot. I'd love to see this stickied for easy reference and any possible expansion. +1
watch, we all do stupid things, we just have to learn from them so we don't make the same mistakes twice, of course I will always keep making the same mistakes, mostly because I keep forgetting to not do them lol

Hahahaha! (*^_^*) Dude, it's the gaaaaammmmeee! I don't WANT to do that, but I've had to adapt. (>_<) The thing is, I LOVE getting all up in people's grills & it's the ONLY way to be effective there. Not only that, but the maps make it such that CQC will happen pretty damn often. I'd say that this particular match was a bit atypical for me. I'm guessing that out of 15 kills I usually get 4-5 hipfires nowadays.
Still, I knew I'd get some flack from the UC2 diehards when I submitted the vid, but really I want those dinosaurs to adapt a bit. I really feel like the decision of when to hipfire & not will play a huge role in the final version of the game, as it's not going to go away.

Haha, Red my man, I'm not hating on you if you got that impression. Yeah, it's true I don't like how accurate hipfire can be, but I don't think anyone should blame the players for using the tools given to them. No matter how a developer makes a game, players will find the most efficient ways to get good scores and others will dislike it. It's hard to find a balance that suits all types of gamers. Just because I aim doesn't mean I dislike players who rely on hipfiring, it's just a different strategy.
Heck, I could need guys who are good at that in my team
Uncharted 2 had SA, bunny hoppers, corner-shooters and many other things do rage on, Uncharted 3 will have things for people to rage on aswell.
I've decided to say "screw it" and have fun instead of worrying about kdr or whatever. I'll just consider hipfirers to be another challenge to deal with in order to make me improve.
Keep beasting, Red!

GAH! I hate not having had access. I could have had so many map walkthroughs and tips and whatnot posted by now. Urgh....
I also heard a new patch has brought stuff back pretty close to what the summer beta was. If so, looks like I have a generaly idea of what to expect hehe.

Great stuff as usual, Tekkenz! Gonna have to watch that some more tomorrow and try to pick up a few things from your gameplay. Impressive, to say the least.

Naw, I didn't get a negative impression from your first post. (^_-)d I was just stating my thoughts on it all. I agree with everything you've said, but naturally I still feel that ND has some tweaking/balancing to do. Until then, I will continue to play the game & continue to try to understand it the way it is.
Oh & feel free to add me, if you'd like. I play Uncharted 3 on my "kakapoopoodoodoo" account.

I'll add you the next time I get the time to play...which should be in about a week, haha.
Tried some Team Objectives last night before heading off to work, it was alot more fun than I expected it to be. Two things that made me laugh my a$$ off:
1. Having "Cursed Idol" as kickback and toss it into the King of the Hill area and watch the madness from a distance. 2. Taking the idol to a small area during Treasure Hunter (I think it's called that) and wait for hipfirers to charge you while you melee them with the idol for easy one hit kills.
I kinda tingly myself Ratchett. The footage I've seen looks awesome. Only thing I'm wondering about is if they took the badunkadunk from Chloe's butt away permanently. UC2 fans everywhere are in an uproar about it.
