Yeah the taking cover part will be tough for me to get used to. I'm used to Uncharted where I can just press circle and dive to cover. R1 is kind of odd....I might have to mess around with the button config a bit....

So guys, Howz it going so far? Are the reviews right about this game or is it overrated like GTA 4 was imo?

Pretty worth it considering the price wasn't as much as I thought it would be. Definalty a good game.

No button remapping, I'm afraid..
Doesn't take long to get used to though, I went back on UC2 this morning and was throwing 'nades everywhere because L2 is sight in RDR.
The online game is a nice diversion from what's out there ATM, it's refreshing to have everything simplified, if you will... No rocket launchers, no air-support. It's cool that the only boost is better weapons and Dead-eye, both of which come from spawn points on each map so it becomes a battle for control of these areas to keep your advantage over your opponent. The 'objective' games I've played have been quite good, nothing too complicated just a frantic dash for the gold and keep an eye on the radar for enemy. Enjoyable 'co-op' modes make for a nice alternative to DM or OBJ though, but you do have to avoid the noobs with the sniper rifle who find it funny to headshot you from the ridge instead of helping out, although you can play in private online mode to avoid this.
All in all, I'd say a very enjoyable change of pace. The shootout at the start of the death matches is a cool touch and the exploration is a lot more involved being set in the desert for the most part, although some of the challenges are pitifully easy ("Kill 5 bears, one with a knife melee.." I did all five at once, one immediately after the other, all with the knife.)
Once I get the hang of how the deathmatch game plays, I'm sure this will be a game to keep my interest for a while yet. Kind of like Rfom in a way, with the spawns for weapons and such, I keep going back to that game every so often so we'll see.
Yeehaw!!

Thanks, Leo. Seems like a lot of fun. How's the main game? Does it do a good job of providing a western feel?

It does, everything is authentic... Even down to the Vultures that circle after your gunfights and the Rattlers that coil up in the midday sun, which you can kill and skin BTW. The missions are pretty much standard GTA fare, but all with that classic gunslinger touch and plenty of references to the 'new fangled' technology starting to become commonplace in the not so wild west throughout the game. One gripe I do have is the way that you can easily find yourself outgunned during the missions, with reinforcements arriving swiftly and without warning, and often you find that you don't know exactly where all the shots are coming from... On one bounty hunter mission I had to deal with six waves of enemy before I could make good my escape, albeit that I was looting all the dead bodies when I maybe should have been high-tailing it out of there. The enemy are quite easy to deal with (so far, I'm not that deep into single player yet,) but if you haven't saved recently you can find yourself with a long ride in order to get back to where you just died, especially if it was in the middle of nowhere.

Soooo got this done friday. I found my very first experiences were a bit confusing and it took me a bit to find out ways to get started. So, this is some basic info for brand new players and a deathmatch walkthrough.

Good stuff, Raist.
I'll likely get this game come this weekend. Looks to be a good bit of fun. Not sure how much I'll get into the multiplayer, but then again if there are trophies involved... Plus, I know I want that bull mount. Won't be quite as good as the Giant Boar mount from Zelda: Twilight Princess, but I'll manage.

Looking at the silhouettes, you can have a Bull and two Buffalo options as your mount in game.
I tried 'Expert' aim FFA last night... Brutal, just brutal.
I'm seeing a lot of players going average 14 to 3 or so, I can't believe people are that good with the game already. The connection definitely plays a large part, one game I was trading first place with a guy and the next I couldn't touch him before he gunned me down.
Tip: Crouching is your friend... And the High-powered pistol is a game-winner.
I came very close to going positive last night though, so it's starting to come together.

I went to get a bear earlier today and instead of 1 bear 5 bears came out of nowhere chomping my ass off so I ran and dropped a stick of dynamite and killed 4 of them! It was EPIC!
