As expected the game is getting great reviews. 94 on metacritic, 9.7 on ign, 9.5 on gametrailers. I am still sceptical.

Eh not looking at reviews from websites or "Game Journalists" prefer to form my own opinion or take the opinion of someone I know and trust who has the same taste as me.

I'm with you. Well in a way. Reviews in no way will tell me what to decide. I simply use them as a tool to form my own decision and to hell with the opinion of the person doing the review (if its a video....if its text only I dont ready it usually). The video gives me a chance to observe gameplay, how it looks/feels etc. From there that helps me decide if I'm interested or not. That interest level will then encourage me to either stay away from the game altogether, try the demo (If available) or rent it first to try it if I'm not sure or just straight out buy it. It just dropped today, Knux hooked me up with some multiplayer gameplay footage....I might buy day one....not sure yet.....we'll see how I feel.... |

I'm killing so many animals in this game so quickly, I've given up trying to give them all names, like I did in the beginning...you know...so when my daughter is watching, and says "You just shot that bunny!?! What was her name?!?" I could be like..."That bunny was bunnita." Now I'm just blanket calling all the animals P.E.T.A. Which is making my kids laugh. They don't know why that's funny, but they're pretty sure if I'm doing it, that it is. Boy...if they only knew.

Yeah, if it can keep small, attention-span deficient children and Rx amused ( ), I think it's a must buy... Getting it Friday.

First attempt at EB games = sold out b/c I didn pre-order. The broad tried to make me feel stupid because I didn't by her tone of voice when she asked if I had. Places like that should have their pre-order stock and non-pre-order seperate. Anyhow, none at superstore so I hit up HMV and they had a copy so I'll be giving it a run through in a bit Nervous about the control scheme's though I can't lie. GTA IV totally disappointed me so....this is essentially R*'s last chance with me to impress on one of their huge games. YEE-HAW!

Dude. Go hunting first. It's the best way to get a feel for the firing, aiming, and dead eye system. From there, the world is your oyster.

Happy to report that the controls are fine. As I looked through the manual....it seemd iffy....but so far I'm starting to take to it, no prob. So far I've herded some cattle, herded and caught a few wild horsies, caught a bad guy by lasso at night, killed 2 skunks, killed and skinned a deer, played some poker, tested horsehoes and have cleared the first round of missions with Miss MacFarlane Havent touched online yet, but this is slowly getting itself a nice charm going for it. Kind of like the Movie Apalooza (Ed Harris directed western). So far, I'm definitely not regretting this purchase.

No spoilers Pls. There are ppl in the third world countries who have no idea when they can get their hands on this game, such as me Hopefully by the end of this month. *prayingSo Raist, how are the controls better than GTA 4? Is the cover system better too? and what about the dead eye targeting?

I think we have a Six month policy that any possible spoilers have to be in spoilers. And if we don't it should be instituted.

| Well, unlike GTA IV my invert camera function A) doesn't need to be changed/fixed and B) it would work if I needed it to. Also, the aiming and gun control is functional where as the aiming etc in GTA IV felt very very broken and un fun compared to GTA San Andreas. I have yet to try the cover system or really get into a scrap/shootout of any kind yet so I can't comment, but at this point - so far, so good. - Lmao Orly wrote:

The 3rd person shooting has/will take me a while to get use to. I was all over the place trying to aim at stuff.

I was playing GTA recently so TPS view points shouldn't bother me too much. San Diego made this one? How much difference is that going to put into the handling and game style?

Alrighty, picked it up yesterday. Got a decent trade in deal too at GS for FOrza 3 and God of War Collection. Handles okay, imo, just not used to how RockStar games control. Riding the horse is more fluent and what I would presume to be realistic than any other game with horses (Zelda, Oblivion). The Aiming mechanic is still a bit off, but thats something I can get used to. The story seems cool so far, im not far in and I keep dying for forgetting to take cover. More later.
