I checked my KD for a laugh last night - 1.27. That seems quite good to me so I'll leave it another couple of months and I'll look again Very Happy= :D

Wow. What do you do? Just stand in the corner throwing grenades at yourself?
Oh, wait. The "-" isn't a negative symbol, is it?
Okay then. Nevermind. Embarassed

PostSubject: Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2   Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Page 37 EmptySun Jun 27, 2010 9:07 am

Heres some interesting tid bits I found on the OGOB forums-

To start off, if a gun is Stopping Power Friendly then that means that using Stopping Power will kill your enemy with (one) less bullet(s) then usual.

I made a list of all of the guns in MW2, their known damages, and then did some math and got their new damages with stopping power. Please note that these are the commonly excepted gun damages, but they might not all be exact.

Also note, these damages are based on normal game modes where the player has 100 damage to start with. It does not take into account Painkiller, damage bonuses for Head Shots, or Hardcore game modes.

For the hardcore modes (where you start with 30 health), most guns are a one hit kill normally, so they are not Stopping Power Friendly. If a gun is not usually a one hit kill, then it will be Stopping Power friendly in Hardcore. Pretty simple there

The list is in this format:

M4A1 (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)

Gun Weapon (Close Range, Distance) (Close Range w/ SP, Distance w/ SP) (Difference at Close Range?, Difference at Distance?)

So for this example the gun is (obviously) the M4A1.
It normally does 30 Damage at Close Range, and 20 Damage at a Distance. With stopping power, however, it does 42 Damage Close and 28 Far.

So at Close Range, it takes 3 Bullets to kill w/ SP and 4 w/o it.
Therefore, it is Stopping Power friendly at Close Range.

At a Distance, it takes 4 bullets to kill w/ SP and 5 to kill w/o. So at a Distance, it is also Stopping Power Friendly.

In the end, it comes down to how you will use the gun. If you're planning on sniping with the M4A1 (good luck!) then go for stopping power. If you're not, then use some other 2nd-Tier Perk.

If you didn't read any of that, a quick summary:
If a weapon has (Yes, Yes) after it, then it is Stopping Power Friendly everywhere.
If a weapon has (Yes, No) or (No, Yes) Then it is Half-Stopping Power Friendly. You can decide whether or not to use SP based off of if you'll use the weapon at close or long range.
If a weapon has (No, No) then you should not use Stopping Power with that gun. It won't make an impact.

List:

M4A1 (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)
FAMAS (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)
SCAR-H (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)
TAR-21 (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)
FAL (55-35) (77-49) (No, No)
M16A4 (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)
ACR (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)
F2000 (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)
AK-47 (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)

MP5K (40-20) (56-28) (Yes, Yes)
UMP45 (40-30) (56-42) (Yes, No)
VECTOR (25-20) (35-28) (Yes, Yes)
P90 (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)
MINI-UZI (30-20) (42-28) (Yes, Yes)

L86 LSW (40-40) (56-56) (Yes, Yes)
RPD (40-40) (56-56) (Yes, Yes)
MG4 (30-30) (42-42) (Yes, Yes)
AUG HBAR (40-40) (56-56) (Yes, Yes)
M240 (30-30) (42-42) (Yes, Yes)

INTERVENTION (70-70) (98-98) (No, No)
BARRETT .50 CAL (70-70) (98-98) (No, No)
WA2000 (70-70) (98-98) (No, No)
M21 EBR (70-70) (98-98) (No, No)
*There are a lot of factors affecting a sniper rifle's damage. Although statistically SP shouldn't help them, using it is usually a good idea.
[EDIT]: There have been a lot of people concerned with the fact that sniper rifles aren't shown here to be affected by SP. I figured out why, and I'm sorry it took me so long to do so.
Sniper rifles get bonuses for hitting people in certain parts. With a headshot, the damage is 1.5x greater, with a bodyshot, 1.1.
70 is the damage you get without one of these multipliers.
So take a look at what happens when you were to get, say, a bodyshot.
(A bodyshot is a hit anywhere besides the head, chest, and limbs)
INTERVENTION (77-77) (107.8-107. (Yes, Yes)
Therefore sniper rifles are Stopping Power friendly if you hit the enemy in the body. Anywhere else, they will be either a one shot kill (head, chest) or two shot kill (limbs) with or without SP.

My new highest killstreak is 24.
I should be glad, but I'm mostly angry about the last kill that got away. It was completely my fault. I saw someone as they ran around a corner in front of me. I should have waited since I didn't have time for a kill, but I jumped the gun and fired. As I rounded the corner after them, they had enough time to fire and kill me before I could get them. I checked after the kill and saw that sure enough they had a better connection by one bar. If I had just waited and chased them without firing, then I could've gotten the kill.
Mad
Oh, well. Teach me to be more careful.

Good game with Toxxy today. Sorry to bail after just one, but I couldn't overcome a connection difference of two bars in hardcore. And after the heartbreaker before that, I couldn't stand it being all I could do to break even. Little frustration got to me. I'll be sure to catch you in the future though.

On Wasteland the best tactic actually is to use a 40 class. The game usually ends up with one team trying to hold the bunker. Unless you're suicidal and enjoy standing in the entrances getting picked off by those inside the best solution is to throw in the heavy ordnance. Yesterday I used my Noob class (M16 w/grenade launcher and ATH as secondary plus Danger Close) to great effect there. Predictably the enemy team set up their tents in the central bunker so I got a triple kill with the ATH just by firing it into an entrance, then I got a double kill with a 40. The predator then got me a double kill on two people who had just respawned from my grenade kill, which then gave me the HArriers whose airstrike took out some respawners again, thus giving me the Chopper Gunner which got me another few kills before someone shot it down. I hate Wasteland with a passion so using my Noob class just ensures the game ends as quickly as possible.

I have got to get me one of those nOOb class thingies.

Not just for wasteland (I prefer sniping on that map) but other games where you get spawn killed by 40s over and over again! When I was going for my Danger Close Pro and became a nOOb tuber for a short while it really didn't give me any pleasure, but I remember it took away the pain of getting 40d yourself.

So, nOOb class...

Any rifle with UGL, ?Thumper/?RPG/?ATH (never used this)

Scavenger Pro, Danger Close, ?Last stand

Got my last stand pro last night, I'm sooo happy about that for some reason. I'm not going to prestige this time until I get lightweight pro (got marathon pro last night too) and coldblooded pro as I have not done these before.

Any tips on coldblooded? I don't seem to be getting credit for shooting down UAVs, do you normally get some sort of score for them same a harrier for instance?

I think you get 50 pts for shooting down a UAV. Plus the pleasure of denying intelligence to the enemy.

Hey,

Many thank for the offer. I managed to get it last night by taking down 2 harriers and a UAV in one match!

Also got lightweight pro!

Just Scrambler, SA and one other to go for the full set now.

Would still be interested in your tip for getting it quicker as I'll need to do it again when I prestige next time.

Yes

All weapon and perk challenges are reset. Crying or Very sad . If you prestige everything goes back to day 1. You get to unlock every thing again. You also loose all your custom classes for the first few levels so be prepared for that too.

But on the bright side you get to keep all those pointless badges you have gained!

If this is your first time prestiging you do get an extra custom slot and there are new prestige challenges.

I think on balance everyone should prestige at least once so that they have all the challenges to complete. If you don't unlock all of the challenges how can you say you have completed the on-line bit?

Um, guys? You know there are challenges that unlock only after a certain LEVEL of prestige (ie, 4th or 5th), right? At least that's what I recall from the times I looked up how to earn certain titles or emblems...

I don't care two hoots about challenges. Life's too short. I prestiged for the experience of seeing what it was like. I doubt I will do it again. Actually thinking about selling this game now because it is very addictive.

I don't care much about challenges, myself. I'm not going to get X-billion kills with a weapon I don't like just because I get a shiny gold star for it. However, for the things I do enjoy, I don't mind going a bit out of my way for a little symbol that shows off a bit of skill was involved in getting it.
I almost never sell or return games. It has to really, and I mean really disappoint me to warrant that. (Looking at you, Grandia III.)

Killy, I'll see if I can dig up the site I got that from. The link if God knows how far back in one of the previous incarnations of the MW2 thread.
