Great post nobody +1
This is what I posted over at the ND forums in relation to the blog post about the Uncharted 3 multiplayer:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I think that naughty dog have done a great job of trying to improve their multiplayer, for that I congratulate you ND. Thank you for listening to the community.
There are only a couple of things that I don't really like to be honest:
Late join, I absolutely hate it when on Call Of Duty or any other game that has a late join, you join, your team is getting their ass handed to them and there is nothing you can do to turn it around for the win. I admit I do like to have my statistics all pretty so I hate it when I am given a loss which I don't deserve because the team that I happen to join sucks. I do however think it's a good option for when you are on the other side of the fence and people quit out leaving your team to hunt for one or two enemies. What I would like to see is a way that I can turn off late join, so that I am unable to join a match which is already happening would be great.
How hard would it be to implement a proper clan system into the game now? I love games which have more of a clan system than throwning up some letters in front of your name, they are a great way to meet new people, get better at the game and get some more competitiveness into the game which makes people stay longer. I think everything about them are great, even if there aren't any clan battle features please add a clan system where you can invite people to your clan.
Possibly a few more than 3 layers for the emblem, I can understand why you are limiting it after seeing some of the things that call of duty players can come up with, but 3 is too few to be able to make something unique possibly bump it up to 5 or 7. That's only a very minor thing though.
I have a concern about the weapon mods, how will we have access to them and whill the higher level players have an advantage over the lower levels? While I don't plan to be a lower level for very long, if someone new comes into a game and gets owned from a long distance because the higher level player has a better sight than them then I doubt that experience will make them want to keep on playing. That was one of the great things about Uncharted 2, there were a only a few weapons, which meant that they were all quite well balanced, except for the obvious power weapons and they each had their own distinct advantages and disadvantages. I'm scared that with having more customisable weapons you are falling into the cod trap that it's very difficult to balance when you have a large amount, however I don't know to what extent the mods change the weapons so I will have to wait and see.
Another thing with the weapon mods I hope they don't make the weapons too good so that when someone spawns it's the only gun they will need for the entire match, so they don't bother rushing for the power weapons and can camp happily in their base all set up for the rest of the match.
Try to keep the maps semi symmetrical to keep things fair, I hate maps when someone spawns as villans and immediately have and advantage over me simply because they got the lucky intial spawn and have easier access to power weapons or the higher ground for example. But again I have no idea of what the maps are going to be like but that is one thing I like to see fairness in the weapons and the maps.
My last suggestion is HURRY UP and make it, i'm getting sick of sitting here waiting and drooling over the videos you have released I want to play :smileytongue:
Everything else that you have mentioned sounds absolutelly great though I have to say that I am very impressed and this is one of the games where the developers really do seem to be listening to the community and for that I am very greatful. And I am severly looking forward to playing the beta when it launches and I hope I will be able to play with some naughty dogs again because it was very cool to see developers playing the game and great to see that you guys actually are gamers and like the game that you have produced yourself.
